After two stays in floating houses we tried a pile house. This was spacious and very comfortable for two persons (equipped with a large double bed). The view - if in one of the outer houses - is much better than in most of the floating houses. Even if the weather is cloudy or chilly - just stay in bed longer and enjoy the views through the large window front, watching the sea birds. The small kitchenette hidden in a cupboard is equipped to prepare a light meal or breakfast for two (croissants and buns will be delivered to the door upon request). Alternatively there is a restaurant in the resort with a good choice, also offering breakfast. In summer you may dive into the sea from your own terrace or platform an you may bring your own boat. In spring time you may alternatively go for a hike or rent a bike to explore the island and the nearby town of Putbus with a view sights and restaurants/cafés.

After reading critical reviews about this place and the corona situation limiting us to travel far, we decided to try vacationing here. We spent 5 nights in a 2-bedroom apartment here. Check-in and check-out were quick and uncomplicated. Reception staff were always friendly and helpful. We got a house near the boat marina. On this side of the complex, the buildings have many swallow nests thus bird excrement should be expected. The apartment is on the first floor which I think is perfect for a good view towards the water. On the ground floor pedestrian could look into the apartment. On the second flood would be too warm in summer. The apartment was clean. The toilet smell like old urine (we knew this beforehand from reviews so we‘d prepared ourselves mentally). The balcony was acceptable. Yes, there are bird excrement every where but not as bad as we thought it would be (again, from reading the reviews). We didn‘t hang out on the balcony. Instead we opened the glass door wide and sit in the living room. The bedrooms were clean and had blackouts and mosquito filter on the window. Build-in wardrobe with plenty of storage. A safebox is in one of the bedroom. The pillows do not provide enough support so I wished I had brought my own pillow. The kitchen was clean and had most utensils needed. A cutting board and a small knife were not there, so we called receptionist and they sent housekeeping to being us new ones. There is no oven, but one can order pizza to-go from their restaurant. The price is fair; 7€ for a 30cm pizza margherita. There is a discounter near the hotel (approx. 10 min. walk). A vacuum cleaner and mop in the apartment for in-between cleaning by ourselves. The swimming pool is very nice. The indoor pools are heated. The outdoor pool is not. One must call the receptionist or the poolhouse to reserve a swim time(max. 90 min.). We called 2 days in advance to get a spot. The beach is the biggest minus point for us. It is stony and has a lot of seegrass (tang) growing at the seaground, loose ones floating in the water (our legs getting tangled in them sometimes) and accumulating at the beach. We‘ve been to other beaches in this area (Lübecker Bucht, Kühlungsborn), but this was the worst so far (and that for the most money we had spent for accomodation). All in all, it is a nice place esp. for family with small kids. It was a nice change of view for us and the staff are very friendly and quick in response when we needed anything (handsoap or toilette paper refill), but we would rather spent the money for a clean and sandy beach next time.

It was Impossible to sleep due to noise lasting the whole night. Noise was coming from machinery in the courtyard (probably heating/air conditioning system) The hotel services and the breakfast were perfect, but sleeping was impossible.

Spacious rooms, clean and with all the amenities you need. Good location in Stralsund, close to most sights in Old Town. Parking available close by. The rooms are not sound proofed and there is no elevator. Good value over all.

A series of large apartnments overlooking the Alter Markt (old marketplace) absolutely in the heart of Stralsund's historic centre. Owned by the upmarket Hotel Scheelehof where you check-in/ check-out, the facility is spotlessly clean and - in hotel terms - well equipped with all the expected facilities apart from a phone. If anything needs attention, you'll need to walk to the Scheelehof or use a mobile phone (the Scheelehof staff speak impeccable English, albeit with American accents!). The apartments are on two floors above a burger restaurant which adds a certain smell of grease to the entrance area and face onto all the bars and restaurants of the Alter Markt. Perhaps surprisingly, I found there was no noise problem from either source, the burger place closing at 9pm and the bars by 11pm. The bed was comfortable, the shower excellent and the whole room spotless as is usual in Germany. Downsides? No maid service in an aparthotel, though for a couple of nights that was no issue and the kitchen facilities are so minimal as to make the "aprtment" title dubious. Just a fridge, toaster and two electric rings. No grill or microwave. Lose a star for that and the lack of a comfortable chair: just two upright chairs and a small table. That said, price, location and comfort all first rate. Definitely worth considering.

The apartments were modernised in 2021. It consists of a living room with a double bed, a wardrobe, a table and chairs as well as an integrated kitchen. Of course, you can also find a fridge, a coffee machine and a toaster. The bathroom is properly equipped with a shower and a floor heating for cosy warm feet. As a further comfort the apartment has a direct dial telephone, cable TV and a DSL Internet connection for free. Even wireless Internet access via WLAN is possible. The parking lot is in front of the apartment. Please note that you have to pay a one-time charge per stay of EUR 16,00 for the final cleaning.

It is obvious, that the location is perfect: the national park to the left and harbour front walk to the right and of cause a wonderful sea view. We had room 202, which was much closer to an apartment than to a hotel room. There are plente of place: entré, large bathroom, livingroom with small kitchen and bedroom. We had three doors leading to a very large terrace, where we did spend a lot of time. Check-inn worked flawless - drove to the door - unloaded luggage and parked on assigned parking place a couple of hundred m away. Wifi is stable and keycard opening front door, elevator and door to apartement is so easy to use compared to old fashioned key. Strandcafé was closed (middle of October), so in advance we had asked Hotel Meeresgruss to join in on their breakfast buffet (6.90 €) which we due to fair weather was able to enjoy outside with also a very nice view of Ostsee. Would love to come back to Strand Hotel another day.
