An area that changed flags several times in the 20th century, Eastern Poland consists of Podlaskie, Lublin and Subcarpathian Voivodships (Provinces). The largest cities in each are Bialystok, Lublin and Zamosc respectively. The Masurian Lake District in the northeast includes Wigry National Park and Lake Hancza, the deepest lake in Poland. Bialowieza National Park, on the Belarusian border, protects one of the last remaining sections of a huge primeval forest that once covered Eastern Europe.

"The apartment house of musicians" has been named after a XVI-century famous musician and composer Jan from Lublin. While he lived in our apartment house, he composed biggest tablature collection in Europe. A visit to the vibrant, and historical city of Lublin must involve culture, ice cream, and if you are lucky enough to book in time, a stay in the Boutique Apartments of Rynek 16. £150 (b&b) a night may seem pricey, but when you share that cost between up to 6 of you, then you will realise it is beyond reasonable. From the moment of booking to our arrival, the service was exceptional. They kept in touch in both Polish and English, aware of my deficiency in the linguistic field. They gave us good directions and a code for the car park to show to the parking attendant. The hotel itself does not have parking but they have an agreement with a nearby, manned carpark, and three reserved spaces. It's 40 złoty for 24 hours, which is twice the price of parking on the street for the same amount of time, but takes away the stress of fighting through a maze of cobbled streets, hordes of tourists and local traffic systems in order to hunt for a space that may not be there, not to mention that as in any big city, there is crime and your car is safer in a monitored area. And let's be honest, where can you park your car securely for 24 hours for a tenner? The accommodation itself is up a flight of stairs... or 6 in our case. We had apartment 3. The stairs are not overly steep and are a good indicator of what is to come. Musically themed ornaments decorate each landing and there is not a hint of dust. The stairs themselves have seen significant footfall over the years and in places are a little worn... so mind your footing, especially if carrying heavy luggage. For an attic/loft apartment it is far from claustrophobic. Very clever use of space sees one double bed on a mezzanine level above the door, one large (and very comfortable) sofa bed, and two single beds. The bathroom has a powerful shower, and was immaculately clean, and the kitchenette is fitted with fridge, freezer, induction hob and various coffee making devices with a family sized breakfast table, chairs and a bench. The whole place is spotless... even Four in a Bed contestants would struggle to find anything wrong. We chose not to have breakfast, although it is available. Looking at how popular the restaurant was during the night, I can only imagine it is something to behold. The hotel is situated in the old town, a stone's throw from umpteen restaurants to suit all tastes, some fabulous ice cream parlours (łody), and the impressive castle. Right next to the castle there was a heavy metal concert last night, but in our boutique apartment, with the air conditioning on, and the casement windows closed, even the pounding bass was unable to penetrate. We couldn't recommend this hidden gem more highly...

We stayed only one night while passing Augustow. what a qute and charming B & B. Room was nice. If i have to say something we didn't like was narrow bed. It was not comfortable for two adults. For one night it was ok, but i can not even imagine sleeping on it another night. Room number was 1. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and food was ok. As a real animal lover person, i was very delightful that there was animal. Two small dogs in the restaurant was very very qute and outside was small pony and a goat. if i pass Augustow someday, i will stay again.

DRAMAT ! towarzystwo i lokalizacja też nieciekawa. Po otworzeniu okna mamy piękny widok na dach z azbestem - bardzo prozdrowotnie ! W zimie schody nieodśnieżone i śliskie ! Smród stęchlizny zamaskowany odświeżaczem, który niestety nie daje rady ! Dramat ! A co najgorsza ! Pokoje znajdują się w domu jednorodzinnym bardzo obskurnym i zlokalizowanym za kamienicą ! MASAKRA ! Nie rezerwujcie tych apartamentów, szukajcie czegoś innego ! naprawdę ! TO NIE ŚCIEMA ! A WŁAŚCICIEL TO OSZUST! REZERWUJECIE POKÓJ, PAN MÓWI ŻE OKNO NA ŚWIAT, PANORAMĘ LUBLINA, A TAK NAPRAWDĘ W POKOJU MAŁE KWADRATOWE OKIENKO ! OSZUST JAKICH MAŁO !
