I had a lovely day out with my husband twice now at the Melbourne Arts theatre. The event Chicago in the state theatre level: dress circle the seats were good and I can see well. This is without the huge expense of having to pay more for a better ticket. We were able to park underneath of the art centre for a fee. There is a cafe inside you can buy food hot and cold prior to the event. Coffee was good too.

I attended the performance with my two daughters, 15 and 19 years old. We were all deeply moved and shaken by a brilliant performance, which combined artistry, athleticism, excellent acting, a powerful choreography and a sensitive musical direction to narrate the timeless story of humanity rising against oppression and never giving up, against all odds, even when all seems to have been said and done. The simplicity of the costumes, the linearity of the scenery allowed to maintain full attention on the dancing. The scenery lines flawlessly combined ancient and modern, as a timely reminder that we can never take for granted our freedom of thought and spirit.

Melbourne Recital Centre

Melbourne Recital Centre comprises two of the finest acoustic spaces in the southern hemisphere, carefully crafted to present the best music the world has to offer. Drawing fundamental influence from the traditional box shape of European concert halls, Elisabeth Murdoch Hall is lined with striking plywood panels of Australian plantation Hoop Pine timber, designed to resemble the back of a beautiful instrument and provide greater acoustic intimacy across the 1000-seat auditorium. The superbly organic acoustics of the hall extend to the Salon, a uniquely intimate 150-seat space that can also act as a companion room to the hall. Comprising a series of diffusing timber panels with tessellated plywood faces tipped in and out to form a modulated wall and ceiling, Percy Grainger’s 1937 graphic score, Free Music No. 2 is inscribed across the surface to inspire players and audiences alike. Swing by, say hello and book tickets to a show. Discover why Melbourne Recital Centre is the Best Place to Hear beautiful music.

We enjoyed this production of Twelfth Night. The actors were cheeky and really brought their characters alive. Very refreshing version. The venue seating is a little cramped for leg room. Staff were friendly and attentive. Do your self a favour and see it. We chuckled pretty much all the way through it.
