Southwest of London is Southampton (Soton to the locals), a metropolitan area centered around the port. However, tucked away on the side streets are ancient gems such as the Tudor House, Mottisfont Abbey, and "God's House," a museum located in a tower in the medieval wall. The ultra-modern Sea City Museum celebrates Southampton's seafaring past and the RMS Titanic. Looking for nightlife? Travelers can dance the hours away with bars, clubs, and live music, all accessible by public transportation.

I have not laughed so much in a very long time. Jack & his beanstalk was so funny but definitely not for children. A very good production which really made our weekend away extra fun. Would definitely recommend a visit.

The Joiners Arms is a small music venue in St Mary's, Southampton, England. It has played host to many up-and-coming bands including Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Green Day, Muse, Arctic Monkeys & 1000's more. The Joiners opened as a music venue in 1968 and is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. It welcomes gig goers of all ages and has a community family ran vibe.
You can see why the venue has been in place as a music venue for years - it's simply superb. It's impressive to see the past history of bands that have played there and then gone on to make it big time. The bar decor lists many of these. The place is intimate and friendly. You are, and feel, very close to the band on stage. Sound quality good and a well stocked bar too. Well worth seeing a band there.

We’ve seen many brilliant shows at the mayflower now. Mamma Mia being the most recent. Always have great cast. Drinks and snacks are way over priced but that’s always the same for any venue.

Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) is one of the UK’s leading professional theatre companies, commissioning, developing and producing fresh, vital experiences through theatre. NST has developed a profile and reputation for innovation and quality delivering work on a national and international scale, taking work to London and Dubai, whilst acting as a major cultural force for good in the city of Southampton. In February 2018, NST opened a second venue in Southampton’s city centre, NST City, with the world premiere of Howard Brenton’s The Shadow Factory. NST City includes a flexible 450 seat main house theatre, a 133 seat studio, screening facilities, rehearsal and workshop spaces. NST runs the new city centre venue alongside its existing theatre, NST Campus, on the University of Southampton’s Highfield Campus. NST remains equally committed to both venues.
Wonderful theatre designed by Basil Spence with the comfiest seats in any theatre I've visited. I'm hoping they don't change the seats or the ambience during the forthcoming "revamp". We attended a performance at the Theatre Royal in Bath 2 nights earlier and while that theatre has undoubted charm the Nuffield is better in every respect - better seats, better uninterrupted views of the stage, better ambience/atmosphere and better value! Not forgetting the friendly staff. Can't wait to return but hope the revamp doesn't spoil things as this is a treasure that needs preserving.

The Talking Heads - Southampton's finest and most eclectic live music venue. I saw Band of Skulls at Central Hall and it is a fantastic venue with great views of the stage from all sitting and standing options plus awesome sound too. The band are local to the venue and made a special show for the fans on the start of their tour to support their new album Love is all you love.

Visited this great venue for my son's first live gig to see Gary Numan, who I've been a fan of for a VERY long time. The old world nature of the building leant itself perfectly for the music, enabling a more welcoming feel. We were able to see the stage perfectly from the balcony, and also, when it got a little too loud, just dip out to the corridor at the back. Being able to hear the music well enough to feel as if we weren't missing out. The sales staff were friendly and the security staff were professional too. Although this was our first visit to the venue, I would love to see another 'show' there. It's easy to find and the facilities both inside and outside are great, with lots of the popular chain restaurants at the far side of the square.
