The charming Vietnamese capital has aged well, preserving the Old Quarter, monuments and colonial architecture, while making room for modern developments alongside. Hanoi may have shrugged off several former names, including Thang Long, or "ascending dragon," but it hasn't forgotten its past, as sites such as Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and Hoa Lo Prison attest. Lakes, parks, shady boulevards and more than 600 temples and pagodas add to the appeal of this city, which is easily explored by taxi.

Lang Toi, also known as My Village, is a delicate merging of tradition and innovation, where the poetic beauty of Vietnamese village life is laid out, astonishingly, in a Bamboo Circus. Farming, building activities, traditional games, and the lifestyles of villagers are re-created through the traditional media of ancestral bamboo, in breathtaking circus performances. You will experience eye-popping contortions, stunning acrobatics, and juggling that might take your breath away. Enchanting folk melodies are created live on stage from more than twenty exotic traditional musical instruments. Since 2009 the show has gained worldwide recognition with over a thousand performances in Vietnam and overseas.

Located on the 5th floor of 31 Ta Hien Street in Hanoi’s Old Quarter District. The Northern Soul Rooftop Bar sits in the very heart of the famous “Beer Corner”. Offering the only rooftop bar in the area, Northern Soul features the best view of Hanoi’s premier go to intersection for drinks and nightlife. From above, you can view the bustling crowds from any of our two spacious outdoor patios, the topmost of which is reminiscent of the rooftop bars one may find along the New York City skyline. It is also the perfect place to view the city sunset, all while listening to hits and rare gems spanning the entire history of Soul, Funk and Motown music. Open well beyond the typical “Beer Corner” hours, whether you’re into dancing, having conversations between friends or just taking in the vibe and enjoying a drink, The Northern Soul Rooftop Bar definitely has something for you.
This place was a great little find, in the centre of all the hustle and bustle, you can look out over the city and feel better. Hai is a great landlord and knows the city really well. I hope the bar does really well!
