The world's largest coral reef system, the Great Barrier Reef stretches almost 1500 miles into the Pacific from the tip of Queensland. Designated a Marine Park by the Australian government and a World Heritage Area by UNESCO, the reef is home to an extraordinary abundance of species and habitats. Snorkeling, diving and fishing are rightly popular along the reef, nowhere more so than on the Whitsunday Islands, where the silica sands and aqua waters of the Coral Sea create the perfect beach escape.

Best little show on Earth! Three course delicious meal, 90 minute comedy cabaret show. Starring Bernadette Smith and our very own Boy From Oz, Kevin Wright. Beautiful live singing, fabulous costumes and hilarious stand up comedy. Vegas in the tropics!
Grease Lightning, based around my all time favourite, was absolutely brilliant. Have been planning to see this show for months, and am so pleased we did. Both Bernadette & Kevin have so much talent, they draw you in, make you laugh till you cry with their wit and humor, not to mention those voices. Delicious 3 course meal, and a friendly atmosphere. If you go expecting a huge full on production, you might be in for a suprise, it's not. It's even better.

Lovely food, & very informative Dreamtime talk from Gary, & his brother, explaining local culture & how to play the digeree doo... I would thoroughly recommend it!

From the heart of Cairns Yidinji people comes the inspiring story of a courageous woman who set out to change the world! From the humble shores of the Aboriginal mission of Yarrabah, home to the Yidinji people in North Queensland all the way to the World Stage – BUKAL is the imagining of social justice warrior, traditional owner, elder, mother and Internationally recognised academic Henrietta Marrie’s extraordinary life realised on stage. As we travel from the Australian rainforest to Geneva and journey with an Australian woman who will stop at nothing to uncover injustice and return that which was stolen to its rightful place. Just like the spirit name that her grandfather spoke over the sacred fire, Bukal (black lawyer vine), she finds ways around the obstacles blocking her path. This is a story of resilience. Of passion that is ignited from the fire inside. Of great adventure. Never giving up…and most importantly of Connection.
JUTE's ability to tell engaging, meaningful and thought-provoking community stories in a fun, interactive and entertaining way is refreshing. I have been to 2 performances and both were incredible. Absolute value for money and I rate both performances higher than big shows like The Book of Mormon or Mary Poppins, etc.

What a gem of a theatre is the 1940s art deco Summergarden Cinema. And what a gem of a film was 'Slim and I'. Immensely rich in characters and song- so much I didn't know about this Aussie legend and his amazing wife. A perfect cinema for this film with friendly staff who really looked after their patrons. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Cairns Little Theatre produces 5 major live stage productions each year plus numerous minor productions. The Rondo Theatre where performances are held is different to most live theatres, it is 'theatre in the round' where the stage is surrounded by the audience. To see if a performance is playing now please visit the Cairns Little Theatre website.
I went here recently to see Wife After Death and found it a very entertaining play. The audience seating was set to 3 sides of the stage of which I found very good. Not a huge theatre either..just right. They drinks were very cheaply priced too. Fab night out and lovely little theatre :)

The Whitsunday Arts and Cultural Centre took a life of it's own in September 2014. In the heart of Airlie Beach The WACC is the largest purpose designed space for all types of events on the Whitsunday mainland. The building is an arts and cultural precinct, the interior design innovation in spatial planning is unconventional and fun. You enter the building via our discovery space that captures the stories of our region, our bars are styled from relics that represent the tropical lifestyle and tapestry of our local community throughout time. Spread across 2 levels The WACC features 2 bars and a rooftop cinema, 2 main function rooms with fully-equipped stages, excellent audio visual facilities and 2 break out meeting rooms. The building will be providing ongoing events, shows with visiting comedy acts and an outdoor cinema. Our Aboriginal Whispers of the Dreamtime show staring the Nulla Nulla tribe takes place every Friday at 7pm at our venue. Please click 'What's On' at the top of our page for bookings and more information. The team at the WACC have commenced planning phase for the gathering of the history and stories of the pioneers and people that have shaped Airlie Beach into the town it is today, we urge anyone that has stories, photographs or relics to come forward and contact us. The building can be utilised for weddings, parties, local arts/community groups, functions and conferences. With Christmas not far away we're encouraging locals to book their parties and work functions early.

Footlights combines a brilliant 2 hour comedy show with a delicious 3 course dinner into 1 unforgettable night. Footlights, perfect for any occasion, or just a great night out. Footlights it's for you!
With so much inauthenticity in today's world, here is a place that transports you back to good old times when passion for theatre was genuine, love for performance was in the heart, and enjoyment of live entertainment was care-free. Tonight, my family and I were embraced by a down-to-earth frivolousness and reflections of a bygone era - perhaps some which have not been even been dusted in ages - that could never be re-created in its true spirit ever again. The Footlights Theatre in Yeppoon, Queensland, is genuine authentic. It is not West End and indeed we should all be thankful that this - may I say, institution - is not! While you may not leave bedazzled as you may an Andrew Lloyd Webber production, you will leave feeling cuddled - sometimes literally, but you'll have to see a show to understand why - by the whole experience. From the moment of arrival to the dimming of lights suggesting it's time to close, we felt a sense of "this is not how things are done these days...". It's perfect because its imperfections are "how it was once done". And that is... beautiful. Remember that great Australian movie "The Castle"? In the same vein, I give this establishment 5 STARS simply because IT'S THE VIBE!
