The Beggar's Theatre lies in the heart of the community of Millom, Cumbria. The theatre is a modern and versatile space and also the home of Moore Arts: Millom, a company dedicated to developing and promoting young talent within the community through the Arts. The Beggar's Theatre has a wide variety of performances throughout the year including comedy, theatre pieces, children's shows and variety
If you are staying in Millom, in fact if you are staying Cumbria, you should make a trip to the Beggars theatre run by the amazingly lovely Jakki Moore. My Mum attends a writing class there too. We have just see the celebration of Simon and Garfunkel and it was sensational. Brilliant venue, superb atmosphere. Everything about this place is top notch. It is what entertainment is about.

Unique as one of only four puppet theatres constructed in England, with puppeteers bridges for marionettes and a pit for working rod puppets from below. The site lines are great for children, with all the rows of seats on a steep rake, allowing children to see over adults. All of our productions are written, designed and produced in our own on site workshops, staged with full lighting and musical scores and appeal to all ages. The theatre has an on site cafe and also an on site free entry art gallery with shop. Tables can be reserved in the cafe for groups visiting the puppet theatre and a children's menu is offered. We were awarded the Readers Choice Culture Award from Cumbria Life Magazine this year for our venue and last year won the "Sustainable Tourism Award" from Cumbria Tourist board for our"Eco" buildings and sound green business ethic. Many of our audience members have returned year after year to see our performances and after show meet the puppet sessions for photographs.
We saw Puss in Boots with our 6 year old. She was enthralled through. Wonderful production, and it's great that the children can ask questions and see the puppets at the end. Would highly recommend.

Theatre by the Lake has a setting on the shores of Derwentwater no other professional theatre in Britain can match. Each year it stages up to nine of its own productions of classic, modern and new plays on its two stages and has won multi-starred reviews from national critics. It also hosts festivals of literature, jazz, film and mountains. There are lifts to all levels and wheelchair users can get to all front-of-house and backstage areas. Both auditoria have enhanced-hearing and induction loop systems.
Great venue, great production, great price and to top it off really good, well priced ice cream for the interval. An outstanding night - will definitely return.

The forum is middle scale venue in Barrow-in-Furness, with a varied programme of events. We are also able to host conferences, meetings and events. The venue has a lovely coffee shop and bar which is open 6 days a week.
Another visit to this very well laid out, modern theatre in Barrow to see Fascinating Aida. Great sight lines, friendly & helpful staff, and a decent bar. Will hopefully be back again in the not too distant future.

With live music every Thursday, Friday and Sunday, interspersed with ticketed gigs throughout the year, there is something to suit everyone. For those who love to dance, we have a DJ every Saturday night. We believe Bootleggers is one of the best music venues in the North of England providing great music, and a great atmosphere. With a capacity of 500, a separate viewing gallery with its own bar, in-house PA System, in-house sound engineer and a great pint, we think we've about covered it all. The upstairs gallery bar and viewing area can be hired for private use; whether for private gigs, birthdays, exhibitions, work parties, hen parties etc. With an in-house PA System and Sound Engineer (if required), we can accommodate most musical requirements. You can also have your gig recorded by our sound engineer. We have vast experience of concerts, DJ nights, comedy nights, celebrations, etc. Please contact us, we'd be happy to discuss your requirements.

The Old Laundry Theatre is a 270 seat theatre-in-the-round situated in Bowness-on-Windermere, and a thriving cultural hub for residents and visitors to the Lake District. Over the past two decades, the Old Laundry has welcomed a host of famous names from Alan Carr and Jenny Eclair to Victoria Wood and Sue Perkins. And along with an impressive star-studded list of trustees, husband and wife Roger Glossop and Charlotte Scott name one of the country's most famous playwrights as the inspiration behind the theatre's creation: "We wouldn't be where we are now without Alan Ayckbourn's support, he gave us the confidence to open the theatre and its success is down to him".
This small theater gets you close to the performance and creates an intimate atmosphere, particularly when the set up in the 'in the round configuration'. A great place for Ayckbourn plays. There are no restrictive views, but the best seats are away from the upper corners. The front rows are great, but expect to be very close to the performers.
