Cape Town glistens at the southern toe of the African continent. Tourist brochure-views at Blaauwberg Beach and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens are within easy driving distance of "The Mother City." The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve provides sweeping sea vistas, hiking trails and wildlife encounters. On a more somber note, travelers can visit Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years.

We come from Europe so are used to quirky small cinemas but this one is sooo nice, and such good value. You can have a beer in the courtyard waiting for your movie too. Definitely recommend.

The 320-seater Fugard Theatre is located within the historic Sacks Futeran building in Cape Town’s District Six, with the renovated Congregational Church Hall in Caledon Street as its entrance. Construction of The Fugard Theatre was underwritten by its founding producer Eric Abraham, and is named in honour of Athol Fugard, South Africa’s greatest playwright.
I experienced the charm of the Fugard Theater when watching Kinky Boots in January. The Fugard makes it easy to book your tickets on their website with the ability to view the stage from every seat before committing to them which is perfect if you haven't been to the theater before. Parking was easy enough to find but Ubering would be ideal to enjoy a drink or two before and during the show, as they have two bars and the option to pre-order drinks and food when booking your tickets. Row C to F are ideal. The Kinky Boots production was nothing short of brilliant. The passion and talent experienced here will leave your cheeks hurting from the exuberance and awe transferred from the stage into the audience. I'd recommend this to anyone to anyone visiting or staying in Cape Town and if you are going to wear boots, make them red!

We went to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show which was performed at the Artscape. This is the first time I saw a live performances of the show. Over the years the Rocky Horror Picture Show has become a "cult classic" and I was so excited to see the live performance. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is one of the highest-grossing film musicals ever made. In 1975 on a meager budget of $1.4 million, it ended up grossing over $140 million. The live performance was wonderful. You could tell that the actors were really dedicated and worked hard in order to put in the show. The cast was very energetic and this was positively absorbed by the audience. In the end the performance deserved and received a standing ovation. Even though Artscape is 48 years old this year it is still a beautiful theatre and contributes to a great and unique night out. Can't wait for Swan Lake in 2020.
