Enjoyed our afternoon stop in this nice Vineyard, it is a bit of a gem being in the wheatbelt, and was a pleasant surprise find. Had some nice wine and a beautiful food plater. Don't miss this small oasis just outside Lake Grace among the reserves of wildflowers, salt lakes, and sea off wheat fields.

Nannup Lavender Farm

Situated centrally on the highway between Nannup, Manjimup and Pemberton this is the perfect stopping point to take in the rural life of South West of Western Australia. The Tearooms open to visitors Fridays to Sundays providing Devonshire tea and light lunches. Enjoy the sensory experience that is lavender. The Lavender we grow for dried flower is in full bloom December and January. We also open our private garden for viewing at different times of the year. Our planting is small so don't expect a sea of lavender as we use our lavender for our dried lavender products such as gorgeous Lavender Teddy Bear or Heat Packs available in farm shop as well as at our shop in town called A Taste of Nannup 16 Warren Rd Nannup right next to the clock tower. We have a campground that is open all year round and caters for tents, camper trailers, motorhomes and small caravans. We also have an onsite van "Millie" the van.

We had a great afternoon at the lavender farm, the owners were welcoming, informative and very knowledgeable about the area! They also told us about the Marron Farm around the corner, as well as all the other local farm stalls around! They were also very informative about the cycling in the area which was very helpful! And then we had the scones.. they were just amazing and possibly the best lavender scones in WA, can't wait to go have some again soon!

Warden Finnerty's Residence

In 1895, this residence was built for Coolgardie is first Resident Magistrate and Mining Warden,Irishman John Michael Finnerty. With the harsh climate in mind it was constructed of local stone and brick with tall windows with louvered shutters, large verandahs and a ventilated roof lantern. The builder was the late timber magnate Robert Bunning.

Warden Finnerty's Residence, often called 'the Residency' dates from 1895, when Coolgardie was one of the largest towns in Western Australia. Irishman John Michael Finnerty was a very important man; he was both resident magistrate and mining warden. The climate of the Eastern Goldfields is harsh; builder Robert Bunning cleverly designed the Residency to take advantage of the cooling breezes. The Residency has been lovingly restored to its turn of the century grandure.

We stopped in there today while travelling back to Perth. We often stop in at different bakeries on our way home from weekends away - and have often been disappointed with meat pies we’ve purchased. Today was our first visit to The Gingerbread House’, and we’ve found a new favourite takeaway meat pie. Piping hot and with plenty of meat, we both thoroughly enjoyed the ‘slow cooked beef pies’. At $6.50 each, they were well worth it ...I’d almost given up on finding a decent bakery meat pie - but these were excellent. The girl who served us was super-friendly ...just lovely.

Open every first and third Saturday of the month from 8am until 12 noon, the Vasse Markets are one of the oldest markets in the South West; providing local farmers, artisans and crafters a friendly space to sell the products they grow, bake or make, direct to the local community. Some of our stallholders have been supporting the markets for 2o years. In October 2019, six stallholders banded together to bring the markets back to life and have had great results so far, with more growth to come. A visit to the Vasse Markets is a lovely way to spend the morning, browsing the variety of stalls and enjoying a cheap & cheerful morning tea or lunch. Bring your family and friends along for a great local experience!
