Costa Rica Cooking

Costa Rica Cooking is the place where Chef Scott Alan showcases his passion for cooking while using fresh, local ingredients from his beautiful home of La Fortuna/Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica. You will cook alongside him learning about the food and culture behind the dishes and hear many entertaining tales of life in Costa Rica. Our kitchen is located near the base of Arenal Volcano and boasts amazing views of the volcano along with the adjoining dog rescue center, Costa Rica Dog Rescue. This is a unique and rewarding experience and is a must while visiting La Fortuna.

We did the cooking class with Chef Scot back in Feb 2018 and my husband and I still talk about it to this day! We loved everything about it - from the kitchen in the open air, to the drinks, to the food we prepared and all the information we learned about local cuisine. We had such a great time, honestly couldn't say anything about this experience that we didn't like - 100% recommend!

Finca Paraiso Organico

Paradise Organic farm is a rural tourism project on a property over 3 hectares planted with various plants and many species of flora, which attracts birds, butterflies and animals in their natural environment. it is a complex that features a typical ranch where we offer our visitors products from the farm, harvested, organically grown and pro-environment.

This is a family run organic farm. They want you to come and see how they have tried to transform farming for the last 10-15 years. You are taken on a tour of the farm and get to take part in some of the activities such as pressing sugar cane. Then you get to taste sugar cane spirits. Farther on you learn about cocoa and get to make chocolate from the beans. You roast them, crush them, and eventually make your own chocolate to your own taste. Then a cup of hot chocolate. They served a traditional Costa Rican lunch and then treated us to a display of dance performed by some of the children.

Eva Maria gave a fantastic tour, so knowledgeable and friendly! We learnt so much about the production of chocolate, and got to taste lots of samples before buying some gifts to take home with us :-) A really lovely place to stop and look around for half an hour or so, or take advantage of a rainy day with a chocolate workshop!

Nothing like some organic chocolate to distract from a global pandemic! On day 4 of 7 days in Costa Rica, we did a chocolate workshop at Two Little Monkey's Chocolate. The owners, Ismael and Lindy, are absolutely the best teachers around. Ismael is an expert at making chocolate, as well as teaching about the history and process of farming to production of the cocoa. He's also extremely passionate about the environment and is constantly working to reforest the rainforest and educate students about the impacts of global warming. When you book a chocolate workshop with Two Little Monkey's you get an entertaining history, environmental and cultural lesson, as well as the opportunity to taste (and make) the most delicious chocolate around!

Desafio Adventure Company

Reviewed By MartinFierro72 - Fresno, United States

Even though we are retired (active seniors) we decided to "go for it." We were absolutely glad we did. The guides were very careful to give clear and complete safety instructions. The rafting itself was exciting and challenging, but not overwhelming. They warned us we would "get wet" and this happened early and often! They had a kayak following us and taking pictures (extra cost, but absolutely worth it). The pictures preserved amazing highlights. For example, one showed our guide, Rodlan, in back of our raft had been thrown several feet "into the air" above the raft. However, he landed safely in the raft, and we would never have known of this, but for the pictures. (And I thought "catching air" was only for motorcross!) In several pictures, the waves crashing over us make it a challenge to see us in the raft, so the promise we'd "get wet" was absolutely fulfilled. We felt challenged, but we never felt endangered. The pictures were delivered (as promised) within 48 hours (via DropBox). They have been a smash hit on social media. We were so glad we choose this company, and this adventure, and we invite others to "give it a try." You won't regret it if you do. (But you absolutely should regret a wonderful missed opportunity if you don't! )
