Shan State (Burmese: ရှမ်းပြည်နယ်, pronounced [ʃáɴ pjìnɛ̀]; Shan: မိူင်းတႆး [mə́ŋ.táj]) is a state of Myanmar. Shan State borders China to the north, Laos to the east, and Thailand to the south, and five administrative divisions of Burma in the west. Largest of the 14 administrative divisions by land area, Shan State covers 155,800 km², almost a quarter of the total area of Burma. The state gets its name from the Shan people, one of several ethnic groups that inhabit the area. Shan State is largely rural, with only three cities of significant size: Lashio, Kengtung, and the capital, Taunggyi. Taunggyi is 150.7 km north east of the nation's capital Naypyitaw.

We will explore the famous Indein which is a small village West of Inle Lake, Indein is one of the villages that host the Inle “5 day market”, the market that is held in a five day rotating cycle in five villages around the lake. The Pa-Oh people who live in the surrounding hills sell their crops here. The village is best known for its many ancient pagodas in many shapes and sizes and in various states of preservation. While some have been restored, others are in their original crumbling state. We will explore the market which is beside indein selling interesting handicrafts. After that, proceed to Khaung Daing village and study the workshop of making tofu, sunflower seed, soy bean and chick pea powder. And then back to Nyaung Shwe and relax at the hotel.

Even a well travelled person should venture up to Golden Rock. The obligatory ride in the back of the government lorries was exhilarating, uncomfortable - yes, seated on a narrow bench, but the journey up the windy, mountain single track road was impressive. The conductor was collecting the fares whilst balanced on the outside ledge of the vehicle! There is a new cable car near the summit for a different approach. On arrival at the sacred site, I had not anticipated having to walk through a village barefoot. Remember to put your shoes in your bag and keep them with you. Those who could not walk the distance paid to be carried on a litter! We bought food at the many stalls. There were lots of families at the summit, sitting peacefully picnicking, sleeping, chatting, just whiling away the day together. The rock is very imposing and obviously very sacred for the pilgrims. Only men may touch it and add more gold leaf to it. The surrounding scenery is very beautiful and dramatic. The Buddhist pilgrims are very respectful, reverend and seemed to enjoy their time at the temple immensely. The whole day was very memorable, I would certainly return. I would not stay at a hotel there as they seemed basic, overpriced and remote. We took the relaxing train to Bago, explored the great sites there, hired a driver for the day, went to Golden Rock and then lots of places on the way back.

Then visit to the silver smith shops and silk weaving workshops.Afterwards , we bring you a local tea shop and enjoy a traditional cup of tea & snack before transferring back to hotel.

After the long time no travelling because of the pandemic, I was here for the second time ❤️ It still choose this tour cause the last time I was so impressed by everything. Vietnam’s nature is always amazed me, that’s why I choose VN to be my second home. I love spending time on the sampan boat visting Market’s Area, so crowded. The CuChi tunnel visit was interesting. The tour guide told us a lot about the history and the underground people here. Moveover, there is no word can describe how delicious Vietnamese food is... the food was made by local people so it different from other place but just so wonderful. I really highly recommend this trip to everyone! I even want to come back the third time ????

One Full day biking around country side will let us witness the authentic local experience with full of excitement. The colorful local market is the best starting place where we can explore the five day market (by chance), taste the traditional snacks and food while taking pictures of the hill tribes beauty. Off to the outskirt of Nyaung Shwe for an ancient monastery and see the monks and novices studying is also perfectly engaged with our program. Biking towards a charming village on the east side of the lake offers us the natural touch with local exposure. A short walk on the old wooden bridge is fascinating and it wipes away the tiredness. The beautiful ending of the day at Red Mountain Winery is the climax of our day as the wine tasting with the coolest sunset view is unforgettable. Grasp our treasured memories and a bike back to our hotel and reflecting our lovely day while having dinner.

I needed a company to help me put together a very itemized and logistically complex 2.5 week hike, trek, climb and rest day plan/schedule (I live in Vietnam, have been to Sapa before and have climbed mountains like Kilimanjaro and Elbrus so I knew what I wanted). I tried 7 companies - some ignored me, some told me I wasn't good enough to climb the mountains in Vietnam. But Asia Master Tours and Chi stepped up to the plate and delivered a fantasic plan and kept in touch and kept me upto to date everyday. You have to have a very flexible mindset in Vietnam. Corona precautions started to deeply affect my plan and my final climb plus my visit to Ha Giang was cancelled. Chi kept me updated, we discussed options, once agreed Chi would go away and (re)arrange everything in a fantastic top way. I made it more tricky for her as I had already done a lot of the main sights in northern Vietnam but she always came through for me. AMT and Chi have been fantastic for me and I would use them again for anything climb/trek/travel related in Vietnam - and I don't normally allow other people to plan things for me either.

In January 2020, I traveled 16 days in Myanmar with a group of friends ( aged 60 + ). The trip was organized with the help of Ms. Soe Moe Khaing from Crystal Zone Travels & Tours. I have a lot of experience organizing trips for the group of friends but I rarely get such great service as we got from Soe Moe. She was in contact with us throughout the trip. Everything booked through it (guides, bus, hotels, flights) was top notch. I wish to receive tourism services at such a level on future trips. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
