The Yucatan capital has both colonial and Mayan treasures to discover. Nearby ruins at Uxmal give some insight into the lives of the predecessors of the conquistadores, who arrived in 1542. Mayan culture is also still evident in Merida's daily life and in the many colorful festivals celebrated here.

Uxmal light and sound show was beautiful. The dancers , the lights, the sound and story telling were amazing. I visited Uxmal summer of 2018 and fell in love with it. We walked through Uxmal during the day and heard the history of it from a guide and waited until night time for the night show. They set up chairs on top of a ruin so you get this beautiful overview of the show. If you are ever in beautiful Yucatán please do take this tour.

Sandra was lovely to deal with and she introduced us to our guide (Johnny Bravo) as she was unavailable that day. We did it with just 4 of us and the timing was completely up to us (ie. More snorkel time etc). This was my favorite excursion to date - Johnny was knowledgeable, fun and entertaining. No loud music, booze etc. Like the party boats! Very easy 20 min hike (horses were available) to beautiful waterfall in Quimixto. Had a nice lunch on the beach and snorkled a 2nd time heading back to PV. Excursion was about 9:00 - 3:30 pm. Next time I want to bus to Boca Tomatlan and then hike ( 2 hrs each way mountain/coast) to Quimixto. Anyways, strongly recommend Sandra and Johnny. Bruce
