Step to the beat of wafting flamenco music as you wander the downtown River Walk before sampling as much chili (San Antonio’s signature dish) as your taste buds will allow. A visit to the Alamo is an absolute must, as is taking in a show at the ornate Majestic Theatre. San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is dotted with 18th-century buildings and features, making for an enriching excursion.

This cathedral was built in 1873 to replace the original founded more than one hundred years earlier.
The San Fernando Cathedral is a standout in the city, on the pedestrian Main Street Plaza, you can go in to see the old church, and at night, sit in the courtyard to watch the most amazing projected light show of history that you will see anywhere. Be sure to put this on the list of things you do - San Antonio has such a rich cultural history, you will come to love it more as you learn about it!

San Antonio has many beautiful churches and this is certainly one of them. It is distinctive from many of the others as this was built by a German Catholic congregation. The San Antonio area has many German immigrants and this church is certainly distinctive to other churches in its interior and exterior. Both the steeple and the vaulted ceiling reminded me of Catholic churches we saw this summer in Bavaria. It was beautifully and certainly worth the peak in during a service. It is both a beautiful church and a unique San Antonio structure. Also well positioned on the Riverwalk extension and defiant in its position surrounded by the downtown shopping center.

Our high school class of 1974 attended mass here for our annual Christmas reunion. This is a beautiful basilica built in 1925; it is one of the gems of San Antonio. You get a sense of spirituality and history all rolled into one. High recommend.

San Antonio has some great churches and missions. However, for me, this was the most beautiful interior of any. You really need to stop and visit. The exterior, just off the Riverwalk so easy to access, is sort of plain, so don't be fooled by what it hides inside. The combination of it unique geometry, a square sanctuary with half sphere altar, and the shiny gold ceiling and stained glass make this a true architectural gem that you need to see. Again part of its beauty is you won't find anything like it. I loved it and am very glad I took the time to visit. You will also.

Small wedding venue, Limestone walled church with beautiful Stained Glass backdrop. Really isn't that small, holds around 50 people comfortably. The area is a festive compound with Art shops and is near a beautiful San Antonio Riverwalk entrance, across street from Hemisphere Park and Convention Center and 3 blocks from the Historic Alamo mission. We totally enjoyed the Church for my dear friends wedding.
