We accidentally bumped in to this beautiful gem of 1000 year history. The lower part (till approx. 5 m) was built in the XI.th century, the above part was erected in the XIV.th. century (this you can see from the different stones used as a wall). Stepping in to the church you can find several frescos, considered to be painted in the XIVth century. The cemetery is also quite unique, we have never seen such tombstones previously.

Cute temple in outstanding place high above the canyon. Spiritual and atmospheric. Highly recommended! There are two ways how to reach the monastery - one from the bus stop (quite a walk up, around 50 minutes to go), another from the canyon (steep and stony trail). Inside the monastery you can see interesting old Orthodox Christian iconography all over the walls.

As if landed on a hill, you can see it everywhere - if you are above it, if you are on a boat tour (the view is amazing at sunset), from both shores. From the playground in front of the church the view is also amazing, it is no accident a favorite decor for wedding photos. The church itself is in a typical orthodox style, renovated, much attended. You can reach it from downtown or from the fortress, but you must. You will not regret it.

The church of Bogorodica (St. Mary the Virgin) is located high in the upper town, near the old Nikola Karev school and the Historic Museum. It was built in 1867 and, hence, is the second oldest church after Sv. Nikola (which dates from 1832). From the hill side behind the church, you have a beautiful view over the city.
