one dish is so big, so be careful not to order too much. we ate dumpling steamed (shrimp and pork). It only cost 5 dollars and we could enjoy Chinese atmosphere. It was quite safe to walk to this place from Shang ri la hotel at night at about 11PM.

Treated ourselves to 5 dishes, glass of Chilean red wine and bottle of beer for RMB538 incl. - which I think is great value for the excellent service, ambiance and great food at Shang Palace. Would be twice the price in Shanghai. Staff were attentive without being cloying. Out of the 5 dishes we ordered, 2 were seafood. One large live fish (2 jin) which was steamed beautifully, a large plate of clams, pork ribs, spicy beef pancakes and a braised tofu and pork. Yes you pay1/4 of the price outside at a local restaurant but not with the same service or wine, and the food was just delicious - many standards above your usual local fare. Very enjoyable. Well done Shang Palace - we will be back when we go to Qingdao!

Had three meals at this restaurant in 3 days. The seafood dumplings at this restaurant is the best comparing to other highly rated local restaurants I tried, 5-20 dollar per plate, it's not cheap in China standard, but they are really delicious. Other seafood are pretty good, I tried Singapore style chili crab, steamed clams, abalone, steamed fish, etc. Mostly seafood are cooked local style, very tasty, and a bit on the pricey side. Service is mostly prompt, but my last meal was during peak hour, so we had to wait for a while before all of our dishes were served. Overall a very good restaurant, and I would recommend it if you are interested to try some local food.

Located only a few miles from the Qingdao airport, this is a good, medium bracket hotel. As an IHG member I was upgrade, coincidentally to the same room I used last time on the 9th floor where there is very little noise, either internally or externally. If you visit in the winter months, then you need to keep your coat on when you have breakfast which is, effectively, an open plan with the main aitrium and therefore pretty close to the outside temperature, which is not warm, even in March.

Quanjude Roast Duck

Branch of world famous Peking Duck restaurant in Beijing

Reviewed By Laura T

I lived in China for three years so one of my favorite meals was Peking Duck in Beijing. So when visiting China again 14 years later, I had to have my favorite especially on learning that Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant had a location in Qingdao. At first we wanted to eat here for lunch but our sightseeing didn't allow us to get there until 2 pm. Too late they close late afternoon. So we returned at night to enjoy a meal. This location is very close to the May 4th monument with a big square of patches of greenery in the open area. You have to go up to the second floor of the building to get a table. There is a elevator but only from the underground garage floor. We were able to get a table quickly. So we ordered the Duck with the thin pancakes that come with it. But we noticed sesame buns in addition. People tend to put the sliced duck inside the thin pancake or the sesame bun. I prefer the thin pancake. It comes with sliced green onions, cucumbers and a sweet bean sauce. You put the duck slices, the onion, cucumber and sauce all rolled up in the pancake to eat. The chef slices up the duck on a tray right by your table. They slice by some crispy skin to eat on its own. The meat is slliced to get juicy meat as well as the crisp skin. They keep the plate of meat on top of a lit burner to keep warm. So so Delicious! We also got garlic Broccoli which was good but has been better at other restaurants. My daughter also wanted us to try a gelatin type dish with garlic and small crispy shrimp. It was ok but not my favorite. We also were served a duck soup but I find it very bland and not worth eating. We got the usual tea, sprite and cokes for our drinks. You can order other fish and meat dishes but why. I guess the only problem was that one person in our party felt we needed two ducks. We had a party of four. With all the side dishes the one duck was enough. The waitress had forgotten our second duck as it was just as well plus by this time the kitchen had closed. If you come to China you have to experience the Peking Duck. Many presidents and government officials have visited the famous location in Beijing where it all started in the mid 1800"s.

Highly recommended via TripAdvisor but a bit disappointing. It took us 45min to get a table due to some unclear ticketing system but what the heck; as long as the food is good. The special black dumplings filled with seafood are very nice indeed as are the small spicy clams and flower beans. But the fish was over cooked, the octopus not cooked well enough. And the service poor.

Din Tai Fung (Marina City Branch)

Din Tai Fung is a chain of Taiwanese dumpling restaurants. I've eaten in a couple of them, they are always good. This location is right near the waterfront, very nice atmosphere. You don't have to feel like you're experimenting here, and you know what you're eating. I especially recommend the Hot & Sour soup, it's so thick you can almost stand your spoon up in it.
