Find out what Chinese restaurants to try in Hangzhou. Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province and one of the seven ancient capitals of China. It was described by Italian traveler Marco Polo as the finest and most luxurious city in the world. The West Lake scenic area contains over 60 cultural relic sites and several attractions of natural beauty, and a cruise on the lake is a good option to view several sites. Hangzhou is also a good place to visit a tea plantation.

Central market at Midtown Shangri-La provides breakfast buffet, room service, and other meals. Breakfast buffet looks impressive but really not if want Western style food. Quality was poor unless you want breads and fruit. Very difficult to get more than first cup of coffee even with lots of staff milling around. Really had to chase people down. Room service not a good option as room menu out of date and phone staff service skills poor and unhelpful

Grandma's Home is now one of my favourite restaurant. I visited this place while staying at the Sheraton Grand Hangzhou Wetland Park Resort in Hangzhou. Grandmaâs Home is well known for serving delicious Zhejiang food at a surprisingly reasonable price. Because of this, the restaurants are usually very packed during dining hours and long queues are often seen. We did not have to wait long for our table due to the fact that we had dinner early. The prices are cheap especially if you eat in groups. We had a number of dishes each one was really lovely. I would not hesitate to say this was the best food I ate while I was travelling in China.I really enjoyed the food and its presentation, the restaurant has a special atmosphere and great place to spend with friends. The staff were friendly as was the service. The food came out quickly and hot. I love this restaurant and will definitely go back if I had another trip to Hangzhou. You will not be disappointed if you eat at Grandma's Home. Grandmaâs Home (Hubin Branch is very close to the West Lake)

There are 4 differnet kind of boiling stock in the center of the table. You just order what you wish to cook (boil) int those stock. Try port, chicken, lamb, mushrooms, seafood, vegatables and so on. And there is a separate table with different sauce (spicy and not) - just mix it together and have fun. After boiling the stuff put it in your mix sauce and eat it. Where unusual and tasty. It's must-visit place.Service is excellent, food is fresh and tasty.

Yin Long is close to the subway station, it also has 1 station for bus and 1 for public bikes.Bailu is famous for its traditional flavors and also much cheaper than others. There are a lot of people swarm into the restarant during the meal time, and they don't keep reservations. You'd better go there earlier.

Always nice have a stop at green Thea restaurant for lunch or dinner, nice location in the middle of Thea plantation, just by walking from the Hangzhou Thea museum. Here you could experience a different type of Chinese food always like by expat, the green Thea pork and eggplants are a must to try. Better go in advance to book a table as is always quite busy.

Was in Hangzhou on business... went with the team to find food on the lake... lots of restaurants and entertainment.Grandmaâs stood out... clean, nice decor and attentive staff. HOWEVER no English menu!! Selection by pictures commenced and we were not disappointed! Food, all cooked fresh, was delicious (apart from one thing which we have no idea what it was...!?) and Iâd recommend the aubergine dish and baked chicken! The meal for 5 of us (and we got a lot of food and two rounds of beers!!)... came to £40! Absolute bargain. One point to note... at the end of the selection choice, if the waiter stands there and points to a line at the bottom of the menu card...and wonât leave until you answer... he wants to know if you have any allergies!!!

We were staying in the Grand Hyatt and read a lot of review online. Decided to come check out the restaurant on our first night.Food:They serve traditional Hangzhou cuisine and have the usual hits of Dongpo Pork, Longjing Shrimp, Beggar Chicken, Vinegar Fish etc. They offer tasting menus starting at CNY1000 for 2 people as well as a la carte menu.We ordered before 8:30PM and they were already out of the Beggar Chicken which was quite disheartening, as this dish was raved everywhere we saw. Our main dish was the Dongpo Pork which came in a pyramid shape with crazy knife skills. The pork was incredibly tender and flavorful and 1 of the best dishes of our trip. We also ordered a lotus appetizer and veggies which were all fine. Also ended with a couple of western style desserts that were average.Drinks:For such a nice restaurant, it was disappointing to see such a short wine list, maybe 5 choices each for white and red. We settled on a bottle of Paul Jaboulet Shiraz. We've had this maker in the past and enjoyed it, but found this particular one underwhelming especially for >CNY400. We were also told they do not make cocktails...Service:Everyone was friendly but overall service is mediocre. A few points that could be improved:- We stopped by on check in to reserve a table. I wish we were told at that time that they usually run out of Beggar Chicken early so we can reserve one or something in advance. - They did not reinforce the no smoking rule until we asked them to for the table sitting behind us.- There was some confusion on who will take our order. We had to track down people to order and then to get the check.- Brought us the wrong wine at first.- I was surprised that eating inside in a nice restaurant in a nice hotel, I still got eaten alive by mosquitos.Overall, the pork was truly a standout dish and I wish I has the opportunity to taste the Beggar Chicken, but the overall experience was somewhat underwhelming. While it doesn't seem that bad by Western standards, everything here is quite expensive (we spent >CNY1100 for a light meal for 2). Andy Hayler gave both 28 Hubin and Made in China (in Beijing, also in a Grand Hyatt) the same score, but I found my meal at Made in China much better.

Asia Bistro offer daily buffet's for brekfast, lunch and dinner featuring open kitchen's with a focus on Chinese and Asian cuisines and international favorites. International a la carte menu available all day Service is efficient and casual by knowledable
I usually have breakfast there. Nice environment with fine decoration. A variety of food flavors that you can choose, such traditional Chinese food, western continental breakfast choices, sushi, vegetarian, etc. for the fruit part, I like small green pears that I never saw in U.S. Crispy and sweet. They always provide some special dishes that I usually donât see in other hotel chain restaurant. Another appraise comes from the service. The attendants there always bring warm welcome to me while guiding me to the seat. They are trained to pay attention to the details. Clean table with the whole set of fine serve ware. Quickly removing the dirty plates. I really enjoyed having breakfast there.Dear valued guestGreeting from JW Marriott Hotel HangzhouThank you for the time you have taken to share your comments with us about your recent dining experience in Asia Bistro.Iâm pleased to see that you had a wonderful time in Asia Bistro. We continuously strive to ensure the service we provide our guest is personalized and Iâm delighted to see we were able to do it for you.We are always delighted to welcome you back to the hotel and share new amazing memories together. We are looking forward seeing you again.Best regardsAda DaiFood & Beverage Service Manager

I stay since two days st Hangzhou and searched for a nice place to have a relaxed dinner and a cigar. Recommendations at the internet, so I visited this restaurant for dinner, very excited whatâs to get here. I read the comments and expected an expensive experience. After arrival at 9pm, the restaurant was totally empty, I was the only guest, however, there was a nice welcome, I tried to stay. And, what should I say, it was an amazing evening. Extremely friendly personnel, a very tasty and beautiful menu, the salmon was perfect. I tried a Chinese wine and was surprised. Beautiful. Finally I had a cigar at the terrace. The bill with finally 125EUR was less then I expected for the excellent quality and the very good service. This restaurant is highly recommended. I will come back.

I was invited, on my visit to one of the local university, to experience local fine cuisine. I have and always loved Chinese cuisine and traditional service restaurant. My host, a great scholar of Chinese art and painting, invited me through a journey of exquisite food and very traditional Chinese service. The location is superb, the food is absolutely delicious, the service very attentive yet Chinese traditional way. And I suggest it to anyone to try it. It should be not missed as Chinese dining experience
