Guesthouse that's also a restaurant - and a bad one at that.
It's a the restaurant belonging to a hotel. I didn't stay at the hotel, but i ate at the restaurant. I would like to review it because i was ripped off and want to warn other people about it. On all the english language maps the streetname of this restaur
After eating at a well reviewed restaurant twice in a row, we decided to try another restaurant on south street. Xie Shun Long Hotel's restaurant looked promising. It was almost full at lunchtime with both chinese and foreign customers. One of the waitresses spoke a little english and helped us choose some vegetarian dishes from the picture menu. She was also a little pushy, trying to convince us to order more than just two dishes. The food was average. A little bland, but not really bad either. The reason i think this restaurant should be avoided is the bill we got. We were stupid enough not to ask the price of the two dishes and the tea we ordered. The waitress took advantage of this. The bill was 200 rmb. This is more than twice as much as what it should have been. I tried to argue with the waitress a bit, but i got nowhere. So in the end i just paid.

This place might at first look like many others out there, the interior might look simple and the fact it's called a "bar" might be a little misleading, but this is probably the best place I've eaten in Pingyao! And I've been back several times! The food will make you forget all the rest. Also the place has a little massage centre on the second floor and a big selections of drinks, everything you need to make a good meal perfect! The staff is very friendly and helpful.I will surely go back when I have the chance!
The city wall of Pingyao garden restaurant, accommodation and catering is an inn. Inside the courtyard, garden style environment, the rooms are spacious and bright, and the restaurant is clean and sanitary. We provide catering, American, continental break
Traditional Chinese compound house converted into a bed & breakfast which made the whole Pingyao experience the very highlight of an amazing trip through China. Everything ranging from the room (we had the terrace room with amazing views over the compound and the ancient city) to the food (homemade Pingyao food for dinner) was great, and Mia and her team truly made us feel like home. It is worth visiting Pingyao just to stay here!

I've read very good reviews of this bar on this site and it's mentioned in Lonely Planet so I was surprised to be served warm bottled beer and to see the three staff members sat playing on their phones or sleeping flat out on the chairs. What with no music playing, it was a very odd atmosphere: I felt like I was intruding! I went in before eating elsewhere at about 5pm (and left 20 minutes later) so it wasn't peak-time for a bar and there were only a few other guests in...maybe the staff were very busy at lunchtime and needed a rest? Anyway, it really didn't impress me at all, unfortunately.
Where to eat Xinjiang food in Luquan: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Welcome to our Chummy Coffee with Chinese and Western Restaurant. We serve the good coffee since 2013, and we added the Chinese dishes and western dishes later . So you can have a afternoon tea, Coffee, Pingyao local food, like the noodles, Pingyao beef e
We had lunch at the Yummy Cafe. Really good food and a variety of options including some western ones. Also has an excellent range of coffees and other hot drinks. What struck us was an almost obsessive attention to cleanliness. The lady who runs the cafe speaks English and was very engaging. We enjoyed it so much that we went back later that evening for drinks. It is one of the few places in Pingyao where you can sit outside in an attractive setting that is free from blaring music.

Great guest house that also has a full restaurant. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner
We stayed 3 nights at the YiDe Hotel and had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. All the food was a very good quality, tasty and nicely served in the very atmospheric setting. The staff were delightful and attentive. The menu which is inChinese and English is extensive and caters for all tastes. You don't have to be staying in the hotel to eat there. Off the Main Street but worth finding with a slight detour. The food and drink is very competitively priced and in my view good value.

We went to this restaurant encouraged by the recommendation in our guidebook, hoping for something decent. We ordered a soup, sweet-sour chicken, some other chicken dish with vegetables and beef with steamed buns. The latter two were ok (but far from decent), while the other two just bad (the soup even terrible). We also wanted to order some rice to have with the chicken, but the waiter refused to serve us any, because... we had already ordered a lot (??). After like fifteen minutes brought some rice from someplace else (another restaurant?), but by that time we had already eaten what we wanted to be accompanied by rice.

Stayed one night in PingYao and this place was recommended by someone to have dinner. Food here was very good, ordered dumplings, famous ååé¢, hot pot and other dishes. the food came fast and was delicious and hot. the service was also very good and the waiters were extremely friendly. One even offered to help heat up the broccolis as it was might have turned cold. They also showed us how to eat the different dishes and also how some of the dishes were made. They even have us a free bowl of desert to welcome us to PingYao and the restaurant! the food and service overall was excellent and one of the best this trip in China. Would recommend to friends and family to come here when visiting PingYao. No regrets!

As others have mentioned the mountain noodles are definitely a must have - both unique and delicious. The fried eggplant is also a winner. For the meat course we chose the shredded chicken with peppers which was good but not stellar like the other two. With a side of steamed rice and two beers the total came to 105 rmb (~15 usd), which is good value in this town. Highly recommend because we did not find any better meals in this town.
