Situated in a shopping centre, Baowie does not pretend to be anything other than a purveyor of fresh, flavoursome food served quickly by efficient staff. By noon it is busy most days. I have eaten there three times, twice enjoying a soup at less than $5.00 a bowl, The potstickers on the third occasion, were excellent, but the serve because of its size is better shared. Prices are modest, and the hot and sour soup really packs a wallop!
We've been here many times and especially recommend the rolls (banh mi) which are fresh, delicious, made on the spot with crunchy bread rolls and a great price.Spring rolls and rice paper rolls are also nice.

We have irregular dinners here with a group of ex work colleagues. This time there were 8. We always start with a mixed selection of dumplings - ask for their chilli in oil that they make on the premises for something different. 6 dumplings later we shared 4 meals and after that we were seriously full. The service is always friendly and courteous, the dumplings are delicious and the meals are tasty and cooked perfectly. They know exactly what they are doing which is why they win so many awards!

Came here for lunch and was not disappointed. Had the fried beef noodles, portion was value for money. You cannot go wrong with this place, except for the sitting arrangement, table are too close to each other and also small for two main dish and a side dish.

This restaurant is all vegetarian. Everything is made from either soy, wheat protein or mushrooms and no garlic or onion is used in any of the food. You wouldn't even know that there wasn't any meat - everything was delicious and they have a really large selection of meals. Good value for money too. Staff are friendly and prompt. It is BYO alcohol. Plenty of parking.

Basic but clean setting with friendly staff. Pan fried pork and vegetable dumplings was a delicious entree, then followed by the sensational crispy beef with a touch of sweet sour and rich and flavoursome kung po chicken. Thanks for the vote if you found this review helpful.

TIP. Restaurant is on Stephensons Road. Large car park at rear, with rear pedestrian entrance into restaurant.Smart looking table cloths. Two of us sat in a 4 person booth - nice, comfy, roomy seating. Long tables are available for small groups. At 6pm on this Saturday there were plenty of spare seats.TIP. BYO wine is permitted, but $7 per bottle corkage. The in-house wines are reasonably priced, so leave the BYO at home. Wines available by the glass. Beers available. Food is Hakka style (region in SE China) with Swedish influence. The #5 Hakka Fried Prawns with Steve's spicy Hakka dipping sauce were a delicious entree, and the Masala (spicy) Fish main course (pictured) was absolutely scrumptious - so full of spicy flavours - with Egg Rice side dish. And the Swedish Cake w ice cream for dessert was really good also. We'll have to go back again.

After much searching for a good Yum Cha in the outer east of Melbourne, we came upon Gold Leaf in East Burwood. Since the closure of Taipan, our continual search finally gave us a great Yum Cha again. The Gold Leaf offers great variety of dishes, well cooked and well presented. You can tell by the presence of many Asian families that our search has been successful. Tripe, chickens feet and whitebait are typical of the asian fare that excites our palate. Although the restaurant is quite big, service is quick and efficient. If you want a particular dish, ask the waiter to get it for you.Licensed or byo (corkage is reasonable), our stay was most enjoyable. Two sittings for lunch suits both the early bird and the linger longer diners. I suggest the 1.30pm sitting if you want the latter.Very happy with everything at Gold Leaf and will be returning soon.

Itâs been years since I dined at this establishment and it was an unremarkable experience then. Not overly crowded on Tuesday lunchtime this was a much better experience. Seafood on offer today was cooked prawns, mussels, baby octopus, salmon sashimi with the usual wasabi, soya sauce, ginger & seaweed, seafood sauces. An assortment of fried fingerfoods; spring rolls, octopus balls, wontons as well as an assortment of yumcha dumplings, soya sauce chicken, roast duck, roasted pork belly, Hainanese chicken (velvety). Soups included, seafood & tofu and miso. Vegetables included cooked Chinese stir fried with black fungus and an assortment of salads. Fried rice, coconut rice & fried noodles are also on offer. Chef cooked, lamb, steak & fish with a choice of embellishments are available, the steak was somewhat on the tough side. A large assortment of mouth sized desserts included, pastries, jellies, mouses, custards, cheesecakes, chocolate enriched temptations, icecreams, icypoles as well as a variety of lollies for the young/young at heart. The mouthsized egg tarts were delicate & delicious. Fresh fruits also on offer for the more health conscious diners. Great value at $36/pp or $29/pp (Groupon), drinks a bit on pricier side, still good value averaging at $42/pp. Service was a bit slow in replenishing & clearing of tables. Drinks are at additional cost; 2 jugs of soft drinks, one Chinese beer, pot of tea & 2 coffees. Evening pricing of $65/pp or $56/pp (Groupon), hopefully with more options, plus drinks is above budget conscious pricing. However I was still very full and did not need any dinner that evening, so a satisfying experience.
