We ate here twice on our visit to Poggibonsi. On our first day of arrival, we luckily found the restaurant as we were looking for our rental. Then we ate there on a Sunday after going to church in town. Their Lasagna is excellent. My husband had it each time we visited. I enjoyed the mixed salad and a pasta with pompodora cream and mushrooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. Even gave us directions which helped us locate the COOP for doing grocery shopping. On weekends it is busy so be sure to make reservations. Not fancy inside but good clean and very good food and wines.

Ristorante Alcide embodies everything that you are looking for in a restaurant, genuine and warm hospitality, excellent food, good wine, lots of locals, priced right and unpretentious. The host explained to us that their restaurant has been in the family for 150 years (5 generations!). We were so lucky to have stumbled at this restaurant and then dine there twice, because this is the kind of place where we felt the people were proud of their restaurant and cared about the food they cooked. We need to highlight a few dishes:1. Cod mousse - complimentary. It was sooooo good! The fish was so fresh and so light. I wished I knew how to make this.2. Cacciucco, which is a Tuscan seafood soup, a signature dish of this restaurant. Delicious, quite large and is served as a meal in itself. 3. Polpo crostano (octopus sitting on a toasted bread with the rich tomato sauce of the cacciucco), so yummy. The octopus was so tender and cooked perfectly. It's a large antipasto. 4. Trio of seafood taster (risotto with calamari, penne with clams/shrimp and spaghetti with mixed seafood wrapped and cooked in aluminum foil. This was a great choice, all dishes were great, but the spaghetti a little on the salty side. The risotto was fabulous. They offer these dishes on their own as a primi. This trio is a large portion for one person, but it was perfect to be shared. 4. You must order the ricotta with pear! This dolci was so good and light! The whole experience on our 2 visits were fabulous from beginning to end! You know when you are at the right place when there are lots of locals, who have been coming there for years. I was talking to a young lady next to our table and she works in San Gimignano and brought her Mom to dine at Alcide and who apparently has been a regular customer; she told me that the fresh fish is very good, which we unfortunately didn't try. The town of Poggibonsi is out of the touristic path, but if you are staying in San Gimignano, it's worth going to Alcide for the best seafood in the area! Our bill came to â¬50-60 ordering 3 dishes, dessert, wine and Vin Santo. This is very reasonable for fresh seafood. Thanks, Roberta, for your warmest hospitality and serving us such good food in Tuscany! We'll carry fond memories of your restaurant! We hope to visit again!

the flavor is the same of the ancient tipical Tuscany Osteria founded on quality of ospitality, sociality and typicalmfamilaiarity kitchen
We read good reviews about it but got a little disapointed.Nothing much to say about it. The owners were so angry and non friendly. The food is just ok, a little bit tasteless indeed. and the portions were minimum.A sad, sad place.we are the new owner from one mounth, we are sorry for the past. if you come back in Italy try again with us please :-)

Designed as an open, confortable and interactive space, a cozy meeting place where the Tuscan culture of food & wine is promoted with creativity, sharing agile and contemporary gastronomy. The dishes are mainly based on the Tuscan tradition, combined with
We were booked for this cooking class through Mario Fortini of Bellarome Travel Agency so we had no idea what to expect. Mario did a great job because this was awesome! We had a very nice ride through Tuscany to get here. The staff was fun and friendly. We made home made fettuccini, Bolognese sauce, rosemary pork loin and Tiramisu for dessert. Everything was wonderful, some of the very best food I had in Italy. All the time we were cooking, we sampled wine (may be why the food tasted so good!) We had an excellent wine tasting that was informative and included some very good wine. Overall, this was a great day, I'll definitely make the recipes we prepared here because they were so simple and I look forward to enjoying the wine we ordered from them.Dear Becky, we thank you so much for your kind words. We are so happy you enjoyed our cooking class, lovely welcome of Bottega TorcianoFamily. We are thrilled you had a great time by us! You really understand our spirit and passion for wine! Thank you and we hope to see you again! You are always welcomedHave a nice day

We had time to kill after catching a train and this osteria was busy with local people. After a few highly trip advisor rated tourist trap disappointments in Italy we decided to follow our eyes and noses. This place was packed with local people and the smells were amazing. The waitresses and waiters were lovely. The pizza was excellent as was the tuna pasta. Coffee was great and the whole thing cost less than 40euro. Go here if you are in Poggibonsi.

This restaurant is part of the Fattoria di Cinciano hamlet complex that includes accommodation, the restaurant, a church plus a winery. The Fattoria is located in the hills above Poggibonsi, about four kilometres from the Poggibonsi North exit on the Florence to Siena Road. The last three kilometres are on a very winding, uphill, narrow and gravel road that takes you to the parking area for the Fattoria. The views of the surrounding countryside from the Fattoria, which we spent some time walking around, are superb though we sat inside in the restaurant. The restaurant had a 4 course degustation menu for Euro 38 per person which is extremely good value. As the starter we had the beef tartare and the cod. Primi was a risotto followed by pork. Dessert was yoghurt and mango. All of the dishes were very tasty. The only wines on the menu were the Fattoria's own bottles. We had a very good 2014 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione for Eur 29.With coffee, mineral water and service charge the bill was only EUR110 for the 2 of us. Excellent value.Service was very friendly and efficient.Perhaps the only downside to this restaurant was the road up to it. We went for lunch and it was OK but I certainly would not like to be driving down it at night.

Quaint Tuscan restaurant offering cuisine with typical Tuscan plates, pizza cooked in a wood oven and gourmet pizza white.
Went there with a family of 4, with one vegan in the party. They served excellent pizzas, and for desert they made a sweet pizza for the vegan person. Excellent choice and it tasted really good. They only have servings inside, but we did not miss the outside atmosphere. Also remember to book table in advance - we did it via messenger.

This was lovely setting but mistakes were made with orders. Had to ask what we had ordered. My steak was cold bits of gristle as well as uninteresting as it was meat, rocket and pecorino slices on top of the meat. We got the feeling that if you ordered a bottle of wine you were treated differently . The majority of people eating were guests of the hotel. When we checked the bill we had been over-charged for three glasses of wine and not the spritzer we had ordered. Overall it was a pleasant meal but nothing to write home about.

Chef Enrico Orlandini (son of Marcello),Marcello is a poet as well as archivist of traditional Tuscan cuisine. He has written a Tuscan cookbook in the old tradition. The restaurant is small but the food fresh and authentic and iris inexpensive.
It is certainly worth while to reserve a table for an evening meal.Food was very good, weâve eaten 'fiorentina'. Slightly expensive wine. Charming wall decoration made by guests from all over a world - gives you an idea of lasting impression. I recommend.

My husband and I visited San Gimignano for the first time and for one night only - this was a perfect restaurant selection... we enjoyed veal appetizer, lasagne, wild boar and traditional vegetable/bread dish ... atmosphere was beautiful and Andre our waiter was very helpful . Unfortunately we were too late to get a table outside but inside was very nice also - local Chianti was excellent - recommend this restaurant !
