Frist things Frist, I am habitat of the lil' city Gengenbach and so I known nearly every place in the region and their specials. Location: Of course this Restaurant isnât in the middle of the City but with a short walk through the Black forest you easily get there. Take you place on the nice modern Terrassa and enjoy a good meal with a perfect view over the trees an der Hills. The Place is quite nice not only for small Groups, even weddings and so on are possible. They got their own Kegelbahn so even entertainment is possible (of course with reservation) Meals & Service:We went there on a hot day, and were surprised, through the high itâs cooler up there. The waiters were really friendly an you could guess that he likes his job very much, as well as making little jokesMeal an Drinks donât take longer than 30 min with was quite fast although there were nearly 20 other Guests around. Both meals were cocked very good, as I expected for the Prize and tasted delicious. extraordinary is the sessional menu and the specials like the Friday Barbeque So after all, I would really recommend the Waldgaststätte Ponyhof because everything fits together quit well. It is Backforest pure !!!

The food was just ok but not fantastic. The supposedly homemade Spätzle are soft and tasteless. the salads were super salty and not edible. The schnitzel, the wurstsalat, the maultaschen and the Hirschgulasch were ok. Just average. I'm very sorry to read your comment.I asked me what was going wrong since yesterday? I asked you all, if everything was ok with the food...the answer: "It was beautiful...thank you".Why didn't you said anything about the menus like your comment above??? Now...we aren't able to change something...we have only the chance to read.......very, very sorry about it...

We have been hiking the area and have eaten here 3 times. We enjoy the atmosphere, service and the nice alternatives on the menu. Delicious salads, gnocchi, ravioli and the asparagus pancake with hollandaise was enough to share. Plus theyâre are open for late lunch!

This is perhaps the most popular restaurant in Gengenbach gauging from the occupancy even in weekdays. Done in classic style with super class service, they serve excellent food. We had lunch and dinner that left a lasting taste in the mouth. The Manager and another lady serve at the tables. A must place to eat. We stayed at their hotel, so our breakfast was included, a really sumptous spread.

Pre booked a table on TripAdvisor and this is a great service. Pre dinner drinks in the lounge area, then moved to the outdoor dining area, met with a beautiful garden, tables decorated and candles for when the sun set. Great wine list and we decided upon the three course menu. Complimentary bread and a starter of terrines and mousse from the kitchen, this was delicious, then the porcini soup with scallop fantastic. Whilst the main meals were good we didn't feel they were the same high standard as the entrees, the veal and porky medallions served with vegetables and local egg noodles. The noodles were not tasty at all and I would give them a miss, then dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would return. Staff friendly and helpful.

We stopped in Gengenbach and a local girl told us to go to the Gasthof Rebstock in Fusbach...so glad we did the 4 km car ride to a typical German Gasthof was the right choice. We had Wild Boar in red wine sauce with potatoes and noodles and salad to start..The family run restaurant was great. The friendly Mum gave us a lovely table even though we hadn't booked and her younger son came to help us with the German menu which neither I or my Italian boyfriend could understand.. he was very helpful and we had the Best Wild Boar we have ever eaten ..he later told us that his brother had hunted it. Wow.Thank you so much for a last memory of our holiday in The Black Forest. We hope to see you again one day. Alison & Mario

Gasthaus Zum Turm is a good option for those wanting a typical German Gasthaus experience. Popular with locals as well as tourists from what we observed. Service was prompt and attentive. Nice beer selection. Meals were very good although the pork knuckle was sadly a little bit of a letdown. I usually enjoy this dish but the skin was soft and not crisped as I am used to having. Overall decent value and recommended.
We visited on a warm August night and were pleasantly surprised - lovely garden, good food (a mix of traditional German and Mediterranean), friendly service. Not aimed at the coach tourist market, like some other establishments we visited in the area, and all the better for it.
This is a delightful hotel with a great restaurant. It is set in a residential area about 15 mins walk from the Offenburg train station. We visited so that we could take the train from Offenburg to Donaueschingen a great trip through the Black Forest. A little dated in parts but that is its charm. Good parking. The chef has a great menu of traditional German fare, great flavours. Good choice of dishes and price range. Nice little garden with childrenâs play area. Booked direct via email, good efficient response. Would visit again to enjoy restaurant. Helpful pleasant staff. Unusual combination of great restaurant good hotel, Fantastic value. I agree a great base for the Black Forest, and saves on the high Swiss prices.
