Reviews on Central European food in Sibiu, Transylvania, Romania. The historic center of Sibiu is still partially enclosed by its original 12th-century medieval walls. Begin your visit in the Piata Mare, home to the Brukenthal Palace, containing the main halls of the Brukenthal National Museum. Descend the Passage of the Stairs down into lower Sibiu, and make sure to be on your best behavior as you cross the Bridge of Lies. A trek in the nearby Făgăraș Mountains will lead you past breathtaking ridges and serene glacial lakes.

Pasaj is a decent restaurant with very good service. The waiter was very very friendly. However, the food was underwhelming considering all the hype, fancy menu & prices. We had: pita&beans, goulash soup and beef tagliatelle. The most disappointing one was the pita because we were expecting home-made pita bread but got regular toast bread. Second most disappointing was the goulash soup because it was so spicy that most people would have trouble eating it. The main course was good. All the food was very oily.

My husband and I are fussy with our coffee and we LOVED the coffee here. I had a soy cappuccino and he had a latte macchiato. Both very good. The place is constantly buzzing as well.

Probably the most beautiful small terrace in Sibiu. Definitively the most interesting cellar restaurant!
Romanian wine is not bad and in 2 weeks we did not catch any low quality ones. In this place however we were really disappointed, drinking two different ones, both of minor quality. Staff also did not make it up with friendliness. Still 2 stars as the seating is really nice. For a glass of water good, if you want to have wine and have some kind of taste capabilities, go somewhere else... Dear sir, I am really sorry that you did not like our wines... You had a glass of Negru de Dragasani from the Avincis winery. With a quick search on google you will find out just how many medals their wines get every year, even from the prestigious Decanter.Your wife had a glass of Italian Riesling from the Ratesti winery, a wine that was highly apreciated just last weekend at the winefair we held in our courtyard. In my opinion, you looked quite angry from the begining because your wife insisted on having a seat on our terrace, no need to take it out on us and especialy on our wines by the glass.Good day!

Delicious food and great atmosphere. Stone walls add to the lovely interior. My group was here on a company trip with 30 people and we pre-booked our 3 course meal in advance. Although there was a bit of a wait to get started we were rewarded for our patience. For drinks I had the elderflower lemonade which was very refreshing - never even tried any wine because I liked it so much.Starter was a mushroom soup that was creamy and strong in flavour. Croutons go perfectly with it.Filled chicken breast came after, with red pepper and ham. Fried potatoes and a wonderful gorgonzola sauce made this particularly enjoyable.Dumplings for dessert, with jam and sour cream. While I was sceptical at first, I found this dish worked really well when you take a bit of each on your fork and try it. The flavours mixed surprisingly well together.I had to deduct 1 star because of comfort. The seats were not so good to sit on after about an hour and a half, even with the provided cushion. I'm not an overly tall guy, but the table is rather low which made me automatically slump a bit every so often. All 4 people on my table found this to be the case.Would absolutely recommend this restaurant. One of my CEO's said that he had never eaten so well in Sibiu.

Tango Restaurant & Pub is the place in Sibiu where the foods dances on your tongue.
The outside was full and they set up a couple more tables so that we and others could dine. The menu is quite large for this small place. We had mushroom and spinach cream soup which were thick and creamy, plus well presented. My wife had a vegetable salad, which had quite a bit of iceberg lettuce. I had tortellini with a nice creamy parmasean sauce and a bit too much cubed ham. The pasta was cooked perfectly. Our waiter was perfect. An enjoyable evening.

A traditional romanian food; good prices; we wait for you!The restaurant is situated not far away from the center of Sibiu, in the old city, very interesting area for the tourists.
We had two wonderful evenings here. This is the best place in Sibiu to visit for any tourists interested in sampling traditional local food and drink. The pork knuckle with haricot beans and the cabbage rolls stuffed with minced pork are both classics well worth trying. Much greater authenticity, quality and value than the restaurants around the central squares and shopping streets.Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to add your detailed review on our family restaurant - Grand Plaza. We would like to thank you so much for expressing your kind comments. We are happy to know that you enjoyed our Romanian food.We are looking forward to welcoming you again.Kind regards, Adi Bacila

In this hous lived Martin von Hochmeister, major of the city, a very important bookprinter and editor. He printed the first transilvanian newspaper. He was also the founder of the oldest theater in Romania. The Thalia-theatre. In 1786 his Father, called a
Interesting menu, with a small number of dishes but cooked very well and quite large portions. Reasonably priced, given that it is located centrally, near Large Square but in a quiet area. They have outdoor seating, on the sidewalk and inside there a 2 rooms carefully designed with subtle details and arranged not to be crowded. There is also a large play room for kids - something that you do not find anywhere.Nice and tasty combinations of ingredients, one appetizer and main course is quite enough. Really enjoyed the service, atmosphere and dished we have ordered!

We had a great night at this restaurant. The location is within walking distance of the old Sibiu. You enter the restaurant from the street and your transported to a Romanian experience . The waiters are enthusiastic and the decorations and room ambiance is fantastic. The meals arrived quickly and were good portion sizes . Every meal was what we expected and ordered. Good price too . We only had to wait for desert which was disappointing but overall a great night and experience.
