A rather typical Gasthaus on the pricey end of the Starnbergersee, the interior surpasses the exterior. The menu offers large selections of fresh seafood, wild dishes and traditional Bavarian dishes. The restaurant prides itself on creative use of ingredients and attractive presentation, but falls short of Haute Cuisine. We were there early on a weekday evening and watched the restaurant fill up. Other reviewers wrote of rude staff members. We saw none of it, but the small staff is very direct and hurried. We were very pleased with our food and the wine selection. We each had fresh fish.Whether this restaurant will please you depends on your view of quality vs. value. Some might argue that the quality and creativity do not justify the prices. We are in the group that resents price gouging, but love the food. We plan to eat there again.
We visited with a cousin who recalled going to the monastery in 2012 to hear a Joan Baez concert...It dates to 738 so is very old and quite extensive. I particularly liked the elaborate herb garden. The restaurant was pleasant and the service was good

The Höhlmühle is located nicely in the woods, kind of hidden near Habach. The place is usually well visited. The ambiance is typical Bavarian country house style. About the menu I can say it is very much meat-oriented and many dishes come with heavy sauces, with lots of cream. I personally didn´t like that so much because I´m on a low-cholesterol diet, which is normally not a big problem in most of the places. The prices very absolutely ok, you can get a main course for ⬠10-15. We had 3 venison dishes: meatloaf, rabbit and deer calf. All 3 dishes came with red cabbage, which was ok except I had the impression it had lots of sugar in it. All 3 plates contained vast qunatities of cranberryjam. The rabbit was dry and tasteless and it seemed to have the same mushroom cream sauce like the deer with it. The meatloaf and the Bavarian dumpling were pretty solid (which they are not supposed to be), kind of like bricks. All in all the dishes appeared to be prepared in a loveless way and we got the impression that missing taste had been balanced with sugar. I would like to add that I´m normally eating fresh organic food. I disclaim sugar, too much animal fat and wheat. I do make exceptions when I go out for dinner but then I want them to be worth it. The food in the Höhlmühle wasnât.

We have decided to spend a long week with the whole family in Gasthof zur Post.It is the perfect place to stay during your Trip in southern bavaria. Besides the classy rooms and the hearty host family, the local food makes you stay in that place as long as you can.Thank you and best wishes from Taiwan!

Since I live in the area, I have been here multiple times, and unfortunately cannot write a positive review for the restaurant. The atmosphere is good and they have a beer garden for when the weather is nice, but the food is really terrible. I would not recommend eating here, only a beverage is worth getting. The service personnel is not friendly either. The menu is too large for the food to be fresh. Every time we have tried this restaurant, the meat is over cooked and on one occasion the meat tasted as if it had gone bad. I mentioned this to the staff and he went an asked another man if his meal tasted good since we ordered the same dish. He did not offer to bring something else, or to take it off our bill. He was quite rude. There are better traditional restaurants in the region...it just takes a bit of searching.

The Fohnseestuberl is in a great location next to a lake, camp site and car park. It is an easy choice after a walk around the lakes Fohnsee and Ostersee, and is often full (of irritated, waiting customers). Somehow there is never enough staff to deal with customers. The staff seems to be specialized into three types: drinks bringers/glass collectors, food bringers/plate collectors and two staff who take orders, issue bills and accept payment. That sounds good, but somehow it always means a wait before one can find a menu and order (sometimes 20 minutes), another wait (sometimes 40 minutes) for food to come (coffee/cakes comes immediately) and another 15 minutes to pay. The quality of food and drinks is good. My suggestion to speed things up: order everything (main dish/desserts/drinks/coffee) together and pay immediately. One can then enjoy drinks and a dessert while waiting for the main course to arrive! I find the staff are all totally stressed and tired of being complained at. If it weren't for the great location, I'd seriously look elsewhere. Oh yes, this place is cheap (the works for two â¬35).

We stopped for a mid-afternoon dessert. The restaurant was rather large and modern. The dining room was overcrowded so we waited for a table on the patio. Seats went to the fastest and most ruthless guests as the restaurant staff was incapable of orderly seating. Every dessert looked to be worth killing for. Alas, when our orders arrived, the tastes were quite disappointing. Prices were reasonable, service spotty at best, but the view was quite pretty. It was that view and the warm sun that inflated this review to average.

I know this place from driving by, since it is in the middle of nowhere near Sindelsdorf-Bavaria. It offers a great variety of Food, for lunch, Dinner or in-between. The People are friendly there, ample parking, and the Food is just great. Drive in, enjoy this place, and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I went for a dinner with colleagues as this restaurant was recommended. Host was very welcoming and it was good to have a menu written in English. Food was fresh, prepared and presented very well.
