Restaurant Stadtkrone is located at the Market in the centre of pictorial Monschau. Simple German cuisine defines its character.Furnishings and decoration provide a seventies atmosphere. In summer you can dine or have a beer at the terrace at the Market Square. Service focuses on tourists and staffs are efficient. We came on a weekday in summer and the town was crowded with tourists, mostly non-German Europeans. In Stadtkrone we went for soup-of-the-day, Schnitzel with fries & salad, plus a desert and we were not impressed. The food was acceptable but nothing special. Just middle-of-the-road quality and taste. If you like unimpressive German food Stadtkrone is the place for you, otherwise go elsewhrere.

We decided to have dinner here since they have first harvested fresh white asparagus and the food weren't disappointing us! The schnitzel with white asparagus in hollandaise sauce was nicely cooked and even my 20 month old son enjoyed the asparagus soup. The service was friendly and nice.

Stumbled on this place, not much else open on our visit. Waiter seemed a bit vague at first so just sat anywhere. He came over quite quickly and drinks were ordered. Came back to take food order but we were not offered a menu just a verbal menu which obviously we had trouble understanding. I have a smattering of German but more polite conversation rather than restaurant chatter. A menu would have helped as every other place we visited used a menu catering for different languages. The food we ordered was very good though. My partner just asked for the fish but got no explanation as to what it was. It was a whole fish head and all, Trout I think, it was very good. My Schnitzel was ok but just to much cheese. I only choose it because I recognised the word Schnitzel onion and mushroom. So a menu would have helped, there was a drinks menu. Lovely looking restaurant inside, very oldy worldy.

We stayed at Hotel Zum Stern who did not provide breakfast. So found this gem at Hotel Horchem. Actually had dinner there Saturday eve and they accepted credit card, but not for breakfast!Still, it was perfect. Delicious coffee, full bar of juice and water and buffet of eggs, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and mozzarella, cereals, yogurt and fruits. Lovely and satisfying start to the day, we visited both Sunday and Monday mornings, and service was very friendly.Hope to stay at this hotel on our next visit to this charming village.

Despite booking through our premier banking service (who incidentally used a German Speaking agent) and checking the day before arrival that our booking was secured, we arrived to be met by an extremely rude manager who denied all knowledge of the booking (subsequently, Barclays have checked the recorded telephone booking confirmation and both times the manager accepted the booking). We showed the manager the e-mail confirmation , but again were met with a stony faced refusal to admit the booking and no inclination to accommodate our party of 6. After trawling around all the restaurants in Monschau we were finally accepted into the Pizza restaurant in the square who seemed to be the only restaurant that wanted to serve people. We were extremely dissatisfied with Monschau, we were even refused access to the beer museum/bar for a beer due to us having not booked (for a beer!!). Please be aware that Monschau is not good for turning up off spec. Please make sure you book in advance and check again with the restaurant yourself to avoid our disappointment.

We entered this restaurant late in the noon, for lunch. The staff is very welcoming. We had a sumptuous lunch followed by coffee. A quite place to have food. But above all that, the taste of food as really good! We had several dishes here, and I liked each one of them! Inexpensive restaurant, for the location. I will eat here again, during my next visit!

We had a great meal here on our first night in town. The atmosphere is lovely with very friendly staff. They spoke excellent Dutch as well as German. My children did not like the pizza the first time were were there but loved the fish fingers and chips the second visit. My trout was absolutely delicious and the pasta was also delicious.

Very good quality of food (the porc with peppersauce & french fries is absolutely delicious!). You can compose your own dish of cold vegetals to go with your main course. Very friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Cosy place. Excellent location in the centre of Monschau. Excellent price/quality. Very childfriendly, the dogs were also welcome. Absolutely recommended. We already came here before and we will certainly come here again!

I have read the comments and believe it was a bit overrated Aslıâm when we went there we have waited for 10 minutes to get our orders taken....Thank you for your rating. If you read the comments correctly, you know you were not in a fast food store. We take care of our guests.Since it can ever come to waiting times.Unfortunately, you have nothing to say about the quality of the food.Best regardsFamily Thiemann and team

A very nice bar/restaurant. Informal atmosphere and friendly staff. Had steak with lovely mushroom and onion topping, Wiener schnitzel ( pork) and ham asparagus and potatoes. All meals really good and good value for money. Advise to book in advance as was busy and not so big. To be recommended
