Reviews on Central European food in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. It’s always hard to fill the shoes of someone who used to do your job very well. If you’re the choirmaster at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, guess whose shoes you have to fill? Bach’s. (No pressure.) Leipzig is closely connected to classical music—Wagner was born here, and Mendelssohn established a conservatory here in 1843. If you’re more of a melancholy, contemporary type, visit during the Wave-Gotik-Treffen, billed as the world’s largest "dark" (Goth, industrial, punk, etc.) music festival.

We arrived 45 minutes before the advertised end of lunch to be given a long list of problems regarding time management. The result of this diatribe was to put us off this restaurant and to send us elsewhere. The service was dire - possible the worst I have experienced anywhere in the world - and the food? I don't know, we were discouraged from going there but, given there were only three other people in the restaurant, I would imagine the food is awful as well. I strongly recommend that the restaurant staff look for alternative employment, perhaps in an engineering company remote form the end customer.

What a treat to eat in a historic 15th century restaurant in Leipzig. I had the Frankish Pork Shoulder with sauerkraut and dumplings for 15.50 euro. The food was very good, the atmosphere nice, service decent and only blocks away from the famous St. Nicholas Church.

Leipzig has a compact city center. The best restaurants, known by the locals, are outside the center but not far away. Münsters is one of the best Leipzig has to offer, around 2km from the main train station. Last night, we had an excellent meal with friends. It is the higher end of the price scale but worth it. Outside is a nice beer garden and I can recommend going for a walk in the park and ending up in the beer garden for a pint. Inside is very cosy, the perfect place to take the missus for a romantic meal.Furthermore, I would recommend chatting to the sommelier about wine choice. Münsters likes to serve niche labels and testing a few new wines is better than ordering from the wine menu.

The Wenzel Prager Bierstuben are a unique gastronomy concept that offers its guests the tasty Czech cuisine and the classic Bohemian beers in an authentic, warm and social location. All our restaurants are modeled after the beer houses of Prague and are g
It's a nice place with typical Czech food, the service is slow tough. Good and beer are excellent and tasty, and the restaurant had terrace and a very big surface inside. In addition is prepared for children, because it has a nice corner with a little castle with some games for the smallest members of the family.

The Falco offers you a dining experience that is out of this world! Peter Maria Schnurr presents a menu bursting with fresh light flavours that will make gourmets and connoisseurs feel as if they are floating 27 floors above the roofs of Leipzig! The rest
We were thrilled with our dinner at Falco. The food was creative and delicious without being pretentious and the service was excellent but surprisingly warm and gracious. We love avant garde gastronomy, but the truth is it can sometimes feel stilted or precious, like the chef is trying too hard. (Hajime in Osaka comes to mind)Falco was not like that. There were innovative parings and beautiful presentations, but at all times you could feel the chef's passion for his food. The restaurant itself is wonderfully situated at the top of the Westin, with gorgeous views. The staff was delightful- hostess, servers and sommelier-- and they made our experience there an adventure and a celebration.Leipzig itself was a charming surprise for us and this dinner was a definite highlight. It is no wonder that reservations can be difficult to secure - so make sure to reserve in advance.

Went for a lunch, which was amazing value - 18.5 EUR for 3 great courses. The service was superb as well, and the setting is nice. Highly recommend for the price.

One of Leipzigâs landmarks is the Bayerischer Bahnhof. It was built in 1842 and is the oldest preserved head rail station in the world. It was the regionâs busiest hub for tradesmen and travellers.Today, the Bayerischer Bahnhof is famous for its hospitali
The best thing about this restaurant is its setting: the dining room and the beer garden was excellent, as was the service. Unfortunately there appears to be little competition in the way of German places to eat in Leipzig and the food, whilst being acceptable, is not great.

We went to this restaurant based on TA ratings, as well as handiness to our apartment (Apartments Central Leipzig - Highly Recommended!). Frankly, it was somewhat of a disappointment. In retrospect, reading the reviews for this place, it looks like it makes its name based on the bar, not necessarily the food. Not that the food was that bad; but the difference in portion size for two entrees of similar price was profound. My entrée, the special, was so large I could hardly finish it without feeling overstuffed. On the other hand, my wife's chicken was very flavourful, but in any other restaurant would be considered a small appetizer. Trendy it is, and if that's your thing, have at it. We won't be back. I will say that the service was friendly, but for the price we paid, and given the smaller entrée, there are better alternatives to be had.Hi Larry and thanks for your Feedback.Hope to see you soon again, to see whats working better

We enjoyed an excellent meal in this cosy little restaurant which had a log fire (very welcome on chilly night). The menus are all in German but staff were very helpful about translating. They also recommended a very good French red wine to complement the food. Our main was duck which was incredibly tasty and tender. Great experience all round. They even advised us the best route to walk home!
