Today I tried the dish with roasted goose leg, red cabbage and knödeln. It was perfect!This restaurant is located in the forest between Lorsbach (30 min walk), Hofheim (1 hour) and Kelkheim (30 min). But one can drive there aswell. Good quality regional dishes, but also various schnitzel variations and steaks. Fresh salads and vegetables.

In the shopping street of Hofheim. With lunchtime they offer "Mittagstisch" 2 courses for 10, and 3 courses for 15 euro's. Delicious! The interior is modern but cosy.

I felt as if I was in a different world. The was absolutely amazing, we had the bortscht, wiernerschnitzl, spegehtini and a zucchini dish from the entrees section. Every bit from each was heavenly. Our server although he didn't speak English, which is no problem for me, was very nice, attentive and helpful. This restaurant is a hidden gem and if I ever come back to this little town I will absolutely be returning here. Thank you so much!

Beautiful setting and restaurant but odd that it was so empty on a Thursday night which meant that the was not much of a atmosphere. Menu is interesting and the food was excellent presented nicely. Staff were very friendly. It is pretty expensive but quality of food and location should be a one to command a price premium.

In the middle of winter, with snow outside, it almost seems like you are in a ski hut in the alps. The food is good, the atmosphere rustic and comfortable. I like this place a lot, and would recommend it to all to try.

In reading other reviews it seems that people's experience at the Rote Muehle (Red Mill or Moulin Rouge - but don't expect a windmill - it's a mill driven by water power). I have personally been to the Rote Muehle many times; perhaps 20 or 30 times over 10 years. I have always found it to be very good. Twice I was here for events with large groups. The other times varied from couples to friends to business lunches. What can I say? It was always good. Local Hessian and German dishes, beers, wines and apple wines. All good.

This place is a bit plain (in a traditional way) from the decor, but the food is excellent and the owners and staff are super, super friendly.

Retter's Restaurant, within walking distance from home, is always a visit's worth.I have always enjoyed dinner both inside in the winter (sometimes in front of the fire place with a glass of wine and fingerfood) or outside in the summer and this quite a few times. Therefore, I cannot answer the question whether this was one of the best meals I have ever had in "A restaurant" with "yes", as I have always had "best meals" in THIS restaurant. Even a vegetarian like me always finds something to eat. The menu card is seasonal. I have to admit, the prices are quite high but the quality (not the quantity ;-)) of the spices may justify the price. I can recommend Retter's even as a treat to those who took a sunday walk on the "Hochtaunus".Dear Raphaela,thank you for you nice and good feedback. Our Team will be happy to get this and we hope, to welcome you very often again. My wife and I are retired Canadian professionals living in Frankfurt for 18 months. Today, between Christmas and New Years Eve, it was overcast and foggy and wet, and we decided to explore the narrow cobblestone streets of the incredibly beautiful little towns of Kronberg and Konigstein, with their timeless estate/residences. We had made reservations at Miro's (highly recommended) because we assumed, rightly, that the local residents would be a good gastronomical influence! Miros is located on a hillside overlooking the valley below. The exterior is unassuming; the interior is very nicely decorated, warm and welcoming, with linen tablecloths. The owner himself seated us at a table with a view.If readers look at the comments on the attached photos, they will see why we were so delighted with the meal. The flavours and presentation were excellent. The ambience is such that families will enjoy dining, as well as couples looking for a memorable experience. (Why dine at other fine restaurants where the stuffy, stiff formality creates gastric ulcers?)The cost of the meals is entirely reasonable for the high quality and absolute professionalism. We will be back again to explore the menu.
