Find out what Central European restaurants to try in Gorizia. Gorizia [ɡoˈrittsja] listen (help·info) (Slovene: Gorica, colloquially stara Gorica 'old Gorizia', German: Görz, Friulian: Guriza) is a town and comune in northeastern Italy, in the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is located at the foot of the Julian Alps, bordering Slovenia. It is the capital of the Province of Gorizia and a local center of tourism, industry, and commerce. Since 1947, a twin town of Nova Gorica has developed on the other side of the modern-day Italian–Slovenian border. The entire region was subject to territorial dispute between Italy and Yugoslavia after World War II: after the new boundaries were established in 1947 and the old town was left to Italy, Nova Gorica was built on the Yugoslav side. Taken together, the two towns constitute a conurbation, which also includes the Slovenian municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba. Since May 2011, these three towns are joined in a common trans-border metropolitan zone, administered by a joint administration board.

After 10 years traveling abroad I came back for a family venue to Vogric. As a little fairy tale, this nice typical restaurant lies in the peaceful hills of the Slovenian border up to Gorizia. Do not ask for a gourmet Michelin-starred restaurant, but the simplicity and the dedication of the chef is absolutely amazing. The food is fresh: pasta, lasagne, crespelle, palacincas are all hand made and tasteful.I recommend the home suggestions, which is basically a taste of three pastas with different sauces. Grilled meat is the core food of this restaurant. You can also opt for gulasch or stuffed wild boar, all is amazing.I would recommend thus restaurant for a super kind personnel, for ever delicious meals and the tranquility of the location.

Worth a visit and well spent money for the well-earned portions. The pizza is very good, but I would also like to recommend the pasta and meat dishes. Nice, fast staff. You are on the border with Italy and the restaurant is well-traveled by the Italians who come over to eat a little cheaper but definitely not worse.

Local food and homemade dishes in a comfortable, friendly environment, near the Natural Reserve of the Doberdò Lake.

Me and my friends wanted to end a day with a nice, quality dinner so we decided to go to this restaurant based on good reviews. We got the absolute opposite of good, we ordered fish plate and it was the most terrible plate ever and we ate a lot of them through the years - without any spices, watery taste, old shrimps that just fell apart and very, very dirty squid and old seashells tasteless. On the good side, our waitress was nice and understanding. The wine was okay, also the vegetarian dish.Dear sir,We regret your experience in our restaurant. Our guests are usually very satisfied with our fish plate. The same evening three other fish plates were prepared at the same time as yours, unfortunately, only you were disappointed over it. The other two tables were very pleased. You were probably confused that there were no two whole fishes on the plate, and from there your dissapontment continued. The fish plate for two means a price tag of 18 ⬠for a person. It has a total of approx. 0.8 dag fish and the side dishes on it. No one has ever commented why there are not two whole fishes on this plate. The point of this plate is to taste more warrious dishes made from sea food.In the preparation of the fish, we use only salt and oliv oil, beacuse the fish is fresh, and it doesn't need anything else. We receive fresh fish every Tuesday and Friday. The squids are always cleaned and we have not received any comment so far about them beeing dirty in all the years.Mussels arrive together with the fishes and the shrimps are the best you can get on the market.Usually we offer a substitute to the guest if he doesn't like anything and leave the food on the dish. Unfortunately, in your case, we could not, because you literally ate the plate to the last crumb ...

Been there several times. I can say that is our favourite restaurant in Nova Gorica. Selected meat and good seafood for a very affordable price. Service is very fast and the staff is very friendly. Highly reccomended!

A former cinema has been used for this franchise beer house and restaurant format with great results. Not only typical German style kitchen foods, very liked by locals, but a wide menu is served quick and well set up. Staff is present and careful. The most attractive element is in fact the location with its big brick arches and wide volumes that allow sounds and noises to remain under the level of disturbance. Tips: The dessert offer should be improved; the discharge piping slope must be checked. Enjoy.Dear Stefano, thank you so much for your interesting tips.Come back when you want.

Sometimes I had good food here. But the last time I was there the food was really terrible. I had to ask the waiter for another meal. This was OK, but far from very good. The service was very good. Ambient is OK too.

We have been here before and we came back because we had a great experience last time. Also this time, everything was perfect. We ordered appetizer, main dishes and desserts and everything was just delicious. The service is perfect, they are very polite and helpful and they really know to do their job, if you need any advice or you wanna know how some dish is prepared they explain everything. Also the ambient is very nice. Last time we sat inside because it was cold but this time we sat outside and it's even more pleasant. There's no road and you are surrounded with nature,I think that the price is really reasonable for what you get, we payed about 30⬠per person for three courses, a few beers, some wine, coffee and digestives. We will definitely come again and I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

No diner card here, but a waitress who reads out the daily changing menu to her guests. It took some time but she managed to make a nice english translation and we had a good lunch! Prices were very reasonable.

This restaurant may technically be in Italy, but its menu has clear influences from nearby Austria and Slovenia. The interior is full of fun decorations and the staff wear Austrian dirndl outfits. Lovely atmosphere and good quality food. The free glass of Grappa at the end was a nice gesture.
