My husband and I were referred to this restaurant while sightseeing near Rhine River vineyards in Johannisberg. The gourmet restaurant and wine bar were open. We had a small lunch - Quiche Lorraine and a beautiful salad; a lovely Reisling and local beer recommended by our server. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. A tasty basket of fresh baked bread with a chive yogurt spread was served before our meal. The view from the terrace of the valley below was exceptional with vineyards and views of the Rhine River. Located in a historical castle building and meals made from regional farms and local vineyards, the setting for the hotel and restaurants is something you won't forget - we took lots of pictures. If you ever have the opportunity, you won't be disappointed by a meal and visit to Burg- Schwarzenstein.

For chefs Alexander Ehrgott and Martin Beicht, a careful selection of local and seasonal high-quality produce is the basis for a successful menu. If such a selection is combined with international and modern ingredients of premium quality, the result is a
We have come here without reservation on a nice Saturday for lunch. We were lucky and got a table as the food was amazing, they had also a kids menu with very good chicken nuggets, fish fingers etc. However the main attraction is the food for adults of course. If it was not for the slow service (we arrived and ordered first but only received the food after 40 minutes when other tables had already been served. They claimed that one of our dishes was taking longer to prepare, but they could have informed us proactively.), they could be considered Michelin star quality with ole ty of tasty vegetarian options that my wife loved. I had the venison and it was not only tender but really tasteful. Given also the nice setting and the option for the kids to run around in the garden, this is a clear recommendation inthe Rheingau.Dear Peter, thank you very much for your kind valuation. We are pleased that you enjoy the stay in our Restaurant and our food. Sorry for the slow service and the inconveniences. We are working on the improvement in this field.Hope to see you again!Kind regards

Guests experience the great history of the surrounding area throughout the year in the wine tavern of Schloss Johannisberg. The veranda and winter garden offer a fantastic view of the vineyards and the Rhine Valley. The wine tavern is divided into differe
The view and location are wonderful, we had booked a table for dinner so that we could enjoy the sunset, that did not happen as our table was inside. We found out later with other customers that they got a table outside without reservation, but when I went one hour before to ask the Manager a better table he refused saying that everything was already booked. The staff was not welcoming at all, waitress were laughing at us and treating my family with very rude attitude. They pretended not to speak English even the English menu was hidden to us until the last moment. The staff manager leaned maliciously towards my wife breasts with no shame at all. Fortunately we did not let them spoil our evening but I do not recommend it at all. I have a feeling which is too dangerous to think, They don't like foreigners or maybe families!Dear sir - i (Admin) am very sorry for not seeing your review. Thank you for contacting us. As stated in our first answer, we will do our best to get "to the bottom" of this. Until then, please be assured that we do not discriminate anyone. Most of us have families and many people in our team ´come from all over the planet. We will get back to you and your complaint as soon as we find out more details. Thank you!Dear Emiliaoooo, as mentioned in various earlier messages, we are VERY sorry for the anger and frustrations caused by our team. Also, we truly apologize for reacting as late as we have. Yes, our communication and the service as such should have been much better. The fact that the day of the concert was extremely busy is also no excuse. The information gathered from the team of that day comes close to what you describe in your review. We apologize and have send a separate message to your mail account. What we do not accept is any implication on xenophobia or even sexual harassment. We have people from all over the planet working for us, and have the pleasure to serve guests from at least as many countries. Oh, and the man serving you that day has NO interest in women at all. This must have been some sort of misinterpretation of what was probably some kind of clumsy move. Still, we are very sorry for the impression this caused. Maybe we can make up for this terrible afternoon one day. It will be our pleasure.

The food here is very good and reasonably priced. The waitress was friendly and helpful. Their own wines are excellent. We have been here twice already and will certainly go again.

Called here for lunch after noticing beautifully presented food being brought out to tables outside. We decided to eat a light lunch after a busy morning and chose pizza and homemade soups. The waiter was great and could speak good English which was a bonus as none of our party of 4 has more than a few words of German. The pizzas were huge and we definitely could have shared between two! The homemade tomato soup and the homemade mushroom soup was delicious and served with a small piece of toasted farmhouse bread. Coffee was good too. Will certainly return next time we are in the area. Prices were amazingly low for this town. Take a trip to the toilets .....you will walk through many beautiful rooms and passageways.

We held an office get-together here and the event was perfect. Before even entering the restaurant the whole setting was worth having your camera out. Surrounded by vineyards, on a hillside overlooking Rudesheim (when we left, the Niederwalddenkmal was all lit up down the valley in full view), not to mention the building was full of antiques and fountains out front. Once inside, I didn't see a bad seating area. Out straight through the back of the restaurant though was an outside seating area overlooking the Rhine Valley which would've been nice, but it was a little cold. They had English menus. I had the sweet Riesling of theirs and it was excellent. I had the pepper schnitzel and it was good, but the rump steak my wife had was admittedly even better. The service was good also. We'll be coming back when it's warmer and the wife's parents are back in town...

Great venue, walked off the Titan river cruise boat and straight into this lovely quaint restaurant. The staff were suitably dressed in Santa outfits and very pleasant with it as well. We were made very comfortable and the food was excellent and at a reasonable price for this time of the year. The Rüdesheim Kaffie is a must, trust me. Well done and Merry Christmas

My wife and I decided not to take the organized tour of the town offered by our river cruise company, so we took a short walk to this great restaurant I'd found on TA before our trip in mid-June. We were NOT disappointed. The schnitzel we ordered for dinner was far better that the same that was served on our cruise, was a larger serving, and came with fries and a nice salad- oh, the price was about $13 US. The staff was very professional as well as friendly. Our outside table near the alley was perfect for a relaxing evening in Rudesheim am Rhein- minus the tour groups. We noted at least six nearby tables resereved for dinner later on a Sunday night, so this place has a very good reputation. Our thanks to the nice people at Ratsstube who made our visit to their town so special. We highly recommend this restaurant.

This winery and restaurant offers delicious food and wines in a really nice setting, especially outside. Whether it was the wines soup with croutons, the fish on risotto (both perfectly cooked and seasoned) or the dessert...everything was great in quality and taste. All the wines tried were refreshing and light, optimal for the high summer temperatures. Service was attentive.
