I had lunch or dinner at this restaurant a number of times over the last few years. My last visit was during the summer with family, but I have also taken people here for business dinners. This restaurant consistently serves the best Swiss cuisine, and is my view one of the best restaurants of this type in the area. It apparently is run by the same family for 17 generations! Also good are the wines, that are produced by themselves (try Kloster Sion for example).The prices are reasonable and fully commensurate with the quality of the food.

On a travel day, we had to stop at Waldshut rather late in the evening; not worth to go home and cook by yourself. So, we stopped by the Restaurant Rheinischer Hof, located the the head of the very cute old town of Waldshut, South Germany. Arriving by car and all the free parking around the house occupied, we used the underground car park just a few meters away - Nice!Well, we walked in the place through the front door and - thought am back in the 80' - people smoking inside - wow. No worries - we had been save from the smoke as the restaurant has 3 areas which two can be smoked. Service and speed was good, Kids meals are available; we ordered a wide selection of dishes , all had been good; well the quality of the ingredients and components could be better. All the dishes had this "flavour" which many restaurants have in Germany; the price pressure and urge to keep the costs low; and yes, you can taste that!Big Plus is the beer - local brewery, no industrial crap and also the Coke - is Afri-Cola which is miles better that the usual stuff - Please keep that going!Overall, we paid only 79 Euro - which is a bargain for the size of the dishes.Verdict+Pricing+Portion+Parking

We ate here as the guests of some friends from Switzerland. The food and service were excellent, and as it was asparagus season we tried the asparagus soup and there was also asparagus served with the delicious beef for main course. The pate and fish were also delicious. The restaurant is beautiful, with wooden carvings of local people and traditional crafts on the walls.We're not really sure what it cost, as we didn't pay, but it was lovely!

We went for a lunch during a shopping tour at Waldshut. Beautiful old buildings and nice shops made us hungry and thirsty. Huge portions and nicely fresh ingredients. Best Burgers and salads and nice choice of Beverages. Very friendly service staff and cool place to spend some hours.

Als Passion liebe ich gut zu Speisen auch wenn man dazu muss etwas Reisen. Ein toller Tisch und nettes Personal bestätigen die richtige Wahl. Sind Apero und die Gerichte überzeugend, ergibt das die ErfolgsGeschichte. Weil Dessert, Rechnungund auch Qualität stimmen muss ichdas Lob keinesfalls dimmen. This restaurant has a great location. Short before the border with a big garden of huge shadow giving chestnut treets, which is wonderful on a hot summer day. But that is all positive there is to say about this place. We have been there now 3 times (2 times for lunch and 1 time for dinner). Reading one of the previous reviews I am wondering if the chef does not work during lunch time, because our complaint was handled the same way "the chef is not in". The food is mediocre nothing special and I have had definitely better pasta (not overcooked) and better pizza else where. The interior is partly 'dangerous' because of the little steps (mainly to the toilett). We have witnessed an elder lady to fall because she did not see that step. We told them to increase the light source in that corner with 1 or 2 spots so that people can see the step or can read the warning sign......nothing has happened yet. This restaurant could be such a buzzing place if they could improve their food quality which would help the service to do their job in selling and making the guest enjoying the ambience instead of focussing on finding excuses for the chef's shortcomings. I put value on poor because the price for the food is low but so is also the quality. I rather pay more and enjoy. Despite this enticing garden on a hot summer day .......we will not be back.

I was here on a business dinner, I would say that it is one of the best places for that in the region. Meat-based menus; portions are good but not excessive; high-end kitchen, food is very tasty and the preparation is sophisticated, even if basically the menu is not fancy. For instance, you can have - at the side of your meat - blue St.Gallen potatoes instead of the common ones. The dishes are also very elegantly prepared. Service is friendly and welcoming, rooms are spacious even for large groups, prices are a bit high for the region but commensurate to the quality.

Located on the old town walking street with shops and nice antiquities sits the restaurant. Inside with an rustique design and outside a generous terrace. Lovely to be seated during the warmer months. Ordered one of the lunch special offers, three type of pan fried fish with a large summer salad and home made dressing. Excellent in taste and quality. Service is good and the staff are very pleasant. Go to the restaurant next time you are in Waldshut you won't regret it. Good quality and so reasonable priced

I have now eaten at this restaurant three times at the food and service consistently deliver. On the last visit, we arrived in the middle of dinner service without a reservation. I ordered steak with pepper cream sauce. Perfectly cooked steak of high quality with a finely balanced sauce that was delicious. My wife's cordon bleu was a bargain at 12 Eur. This followed a wonderful amuse bouche of chestnut "cappuccino". Service extremely friendly and accommodating. Perfect for a casual dinner with friends or with colleagues / customers.
