The area's back country trails provide great exploration points, whether by bike, horseback riding, hiking, snowshoeing or snowmobiling. Not being real foodies, we don't spend a lot of time in eateries. We have passed Browns Social House many times, but never stopped to eat there. Well, until a few weeks ago, in a moment of "boy, we're really hungry". What a most pleasant surprise...staff was so down to earth, and the food was superb. We have been back three times since...love the Eggs Benny and the Beef Dip....okay, so we're predictable.....first class eatery, for sure......we're hooked too....

Iconic English Pub in Vernon, BC Canada Known for our Classic Pub Fare and Great Atmosphere Largest Roof Top Patio in town
My family and I went here on Friday (May17th) for a Happy Hour while we had overnight trip in Vernon. None of us had been to a British pub before so it was a new experience dining here.Fast and courteous service. Calamari($8.95) and Poutine($8.95) were so delish. Food portion was big enough for 4 of us to share. Honey brown ale ($5.25) was smooth. Even non-drinker like my mom and myself enjoyed it after my dad took a sip. Interior looked outdated though. Although my family and I felt tired from the long trip, we had a great time relaxing and dining here.

not much atmosphere however, staff are efficient and food is adequate. Parking can be an issue as the surrounding business's have signage no parking in theredesignated areas. You can get lucky however, from time to time to find a spot along either side.

First time I had visited here - what a beautiful historic building. I understand there is an upstairs and downstairs to the business - we sat upstairs for lunch. It was quiet and our server was on it and very professional. Lots of good looking options on the lunch menu, I opted for a beef dip - it was a good sized portion, and tasty. Others in my group had burgers and bowls - no complaints from anyone. Would I come back? Sure would!!

Don't come in here expecting Michelin star quality food, but the food actually really good. The service is warm, quick and attentive, and the portion sizes are generous. Their wine list is extensive (including very expensive bottles like Rothschild), with lots of local wine, at a very reasonable mark up. The wine we had was $76 and it retails at the winery for $50...so not bad at all.Overall this is my favorite place to dine in Vernon, great food, great atmosphere and very good value.Photo below is of the private dining room in the wine cellar, we got lucky and was offered this space on a walk in reservation.

Our daughter and her fiance wanted to try Umami for lunch right before Mother's Day. We were greeted warmly -- the waiter remembered that I had called ahead to inquire about their hours. The "kids" loved the sushi, which is the main offering here. The other foods -- shrimp tempura, soups and noodle dishes were excellent. We will return next time we visit Vernon.
