Our foursome had soup and sandwiches, and tuna melts. All the sandwiches were delicious! The turkey and the bacon on the clubhouse was abundant and flavourful. The tuna melt was different, perhaps not as bountiful, but definitely tasty, The coleslaw was great with apple bits in it. The tomato soup was similarly spiced as a pasta sauce. It was too acidic. The carrot cake was awesome!

The Sandbar is a cozy, casual (they encourage waders during fishing season) welcoming little cafe with gorgeous views across the Salish Sea -that's gawk point #1. Myself and a couple of friends had a wonderful lunch there recently, the food and service were good, prices are reasonable and everyone was really relaxed and enjoying the moment. After we had eaten I had to get up and wander around the cafe which is also an art gallery showcasing high caliber local talent notably Ken Kirkby, Nana Cook and Cindy Mawle. That's gawk point #2. Imagine good friends, good food, spectacular scenery and fabulous art. You could go in for a sandwich and come out with an original!

The Shady has been a local tradition since 1924! Come see for yourself why we're still having fun after all these years. Great food, friendly service, and a breathtaking oceanfront setting await. We look forward to serving you.
We have been here many times, but now doubt we'll ever go back to eat. Last time we ate there, the ribs were awful. They tasted like they'd been kept warm for hours. Last night there were 5 of us, and only 1 person was satisfied with their meal. Comments from my party-- Fisherman's Pie was almost all mashed potatoes. Cobb Salad, had 3 prawns & scallops so tiny, you couldn't even see the scallops, and was almost all lettuce in bowl. The Prime Rib was laid on top of mashed potatoes that were luke warm, and beef was not that good. The Beef Dip juice was rather bland. I had to ask for my water twice, and waitress was not that busy. They had a good band playing, but we left early because they let one fellow get so drunk, he fell several times. They didn't stop serving him alcohol until we complained, when he fell and bumped into my arm with a broken wrist I just had surgery on. We were not impressed. It's to bad, because this place is on the ocean, and we used to take out of town visitors there to enjoy the view, and the food which used to be good.Dear, ReviewerYour comments are hard for us to read, as it sounds like your party was very let down by your time with us. No less, here we are, and of course we'll have to accept your impressions with respect, as you are entitled to not only your opinion, but also your freedom to choose where you go to have a good time.Within your review you mention having been many times in the past, and for that we are grateful. It is through many, many satisfied guests experiences that we have been granted the longevity we boast about regularly - as Qualicum Beach's oldest business at 95 years and counting.Of course, our long history of creating satisfied guests - as evidenced by a solid 4 out of 5 rating with over 900 reviews here on TripAdivsor - is not something we take for granted, and we really do try very hard to ensure we remain vigilant and always endeavour to satisfy our guests when they do in fact choose to join us.We plan to be here for a long time yet, and that, quite frankly, depends on our ability to avoid any situations like the one you describe in your review. Please accept our heartfelt apologies for the impression you left with after your last visit. We are not ok with letting you down - not one bit - but there's one thing about your review that I want to expend on - the intoxicated person you described. You see, we are extremely aware of our responsibility to ensure our patron's safety - both while in our care and after departing our establishment, and all of our service team must be certified in order to serve alcohol to our guests. Upon occasion, we can find ourselves responsible for an intoxicated person, whether that person arrived in that state, or became intoxicated while being served - the signs of intoxication having eluded detection until it was too late. No less we are responsible. On Saturday evening past, which I believe was when your review's impressions were made due to the "good band playing" and intoxicated guest you described, I can assure you that our entire Pub's service team, bartender, and myself the General Manger, were aware of the gentleman you had stumble upon you, and once we identified him as a possible danger to himself and his surroundings, we took all the available precautions to ensure his care and avoid his indiscretion causing harm to our adjacent guests' evenings. We quite obviously failed to protect your experience, and we truly regret the impact this had on your time with us, but we do not intentionally, or carelessly serve our guests until they are falling down drunk. Our livelihoods depend on our ability to navigate the applicable laws and the liabilities they assign, and we are generally very good at maintaining an environment of respectful fun and warmth which allows the vast majority of our guests to leave feeling very satisfied - and hopefully planning to return again in the future. As mentioned earlier, we are very sorry you felt let down.We hope this response to your contribution gives you an insight into how we feel on the other side of the situation, and we outwardly acknowledge that we greatly rely on repeat guests and positive word of mouth to continue to maintain and grow our business for the years to come.Perhaps, in parting, I can offer you the opportunity to reach out to me directly if you'd care to discuss your sentiments any further, as I remain available to help, and I'm sure I speak for us all here at The Shady when I say that we'd be grateful for the chance to serve you again in the future and set the record straight between us.Sincerely,Tom SaundersGeneral Manager, The Shady Rest(250) 752-9111 ex.4

Located in downtown Qualicum Beach, Lefty's has been crafting fresh food daily since 1996. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts (with many gluten-free and vegetarian options available), the restaurant features comfort food with a twist and seaso
Our visit was on a week night at about 8:00 p.m.The menu was already limited but even more so as they had runout of some selections. Many menu items were either seasoned with garlic or something garlic covered them. Corn on the cob, grilled zucchini and beans were the vegetable selections. They were terrible! The corn was old and tough. The zucchini was burnt and tasteless. Beans must have been hiding as we couldnât find any. Will not be returning. The gentleman serving our table is to be commended as he did his best.

We visited my mother and a friend at The Sapphire Room at Butlers, in the Crown Mansion. They had an excellent wine list and we enjoyed champagne with our meals. I had a caesar salad followed by a filet. The meat was properly prepared and delicious. My wife had a lamb roast with care taken that it was dairy and gluten free. My mother had a spinach fettuccini and a creme brûlée's for desert. Our friend also had a salad and an almond torte. Very good food and service.Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We are so happy you enjoyed your experience! We hope to see you again.Warm Regards Michelle

One of my benchmarks is that if it's really busy it's likely to be very good to. This place didn't let me down. The staff were friendly and helpful and despite the crowds were on top of their game. Orders taken quickly and we we surprised at how quickly we were served. I had very good fish.. cod .. and chips. My friend said that the fish cakes she ordered were the best she had ever eaten ... high praise indeed.

A Funky, Upbeat Cafe/Coffee Bar serving all-day breakfast and lunch.
The omelets were excellent, but the potatoes were diced and tasted like yesterdays potatoes re-heated. However the service was friendly as usual.

We visited the restaurant because the restaurants in Parksville were full or not appealing. It was recommended by one of the full restaurants in Parksville and was well worth the extra miles. It overlooks the runway but is far from the usual airport catering. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and the wine was good.Well worth the effort of getting there.

My wife and I were recently in Qualicum and decided to go to Bistro 694 and it was spectacular! Not very often do restaurants get everything right but in this case, they nailed it. Beautiful setting, professional staff, fantastic wine selection, cloth napkins... and the food!
