Since our doors first opened in 1954, Canadian families have been coming back to Swiss Chalet generation after generation. Our rotisserie ovens only accept fresh (never frozen), grain-fed, Canadian Grade A chickens, because quality is all we know. So what
We have eaten at many Swiss Chalets and rarely do things go wrong. However in this case they did. We ordered the 1/3 rib- chicken combo. The chicken was fine, the ribs were not. They were fatty and heavy in fascia making them almost inedible. We complained to the waitress and she said they used a poorer rib (side ribs) for the 1/3 orders. The better ribs (back ribs) were used for other orders. In fairness, after our conversation, she replaced the side ribs with back ribs which were fine. Moral of the story, when ordering ribs, specify you want back ribs, not side ribs. Our server was excellent and she did all she could to make things right for us. The chicken was fine and the fries were very good. Lots of parking available at this location which is opposite the Highland Mall. Hello, we're sorry to hear about the quality of ribs you received and are glad that your server was able to make things right during your visit! We hope you'll be back again soon to give us another chance!

Having had seafood chowder many places, this is the best, by far. The generous portion is thick and full of fish. The flavour is wonderful and it is always served piping hot. The chowder is served with a dinner roll. My only suggestion is that the roll be heated to compliment the chowder. We will be back!

For more than 50 years, our family has been serving up home cooked food to residents of Pictou County. Every day we cook up fish and chips, steaks, seafood dishes, fried chicken and spare ribs for all of the family to enjoy. Dine-in or take-out options ar
I have eaten at this restaurant many times and I have never once been disappointed with the servers/food/atmosphere etc.

East Avenue is located on Provost St in New Glasgow and thereâs lots of street parking as well as the nearby town parking lots. The space is upscale modern with exposed brick and big windows. Comfortable seating with lots of distance between tables. The menu has a very good variety from appetizers, to sandwiches, fish & chips, to larger plates such as beef, poultry and seafood. We had blackened haddock which was excellent, served with roasted corn on the cob, mashed potato and veggies. We split a cauliflower appetizer which was also tasty. Serving size was very generous. Nice selection of cocktails, beers and reasonably priced bottles of wine. We were quite full so skipped dessert. East Avenue is a really good spot for a nice meal in a comfortable setting.

This is one the those hidden jems you stumble across every once in a while. The dining area is clean and inviting. You are greeted by the owner, Phil the cook and Darlene the hostess and baker. You order is taken in a friendly manner and then you are treated to a hot, fresh cheese biscuit as you wait for you food. When you made to order meal arrives steaming hot to you table you are greeted to a well presented dish, only to be out done by the fantastic smell and flavor. I have had several meals here and can not pick any favorites because everything is wonderful. After your meal you can enjoy one of the in house made deserts, if your lucky and like cheesecake , maybe Darlene will have some her divine coconut cream cheesecake ready, but if not there is not a bad choice on their menuGlad you enjoy our menu, it is always a pleasure to serve you and your friends while here on course. till next time - phil

The server was pleasant, restaurant was clean. The soup was nothing less than terrible. I had an Americano which I sent back because the coffee is very low quality and disappointing. Had lemon square, it was tasty. To sum up, much better options exist and I wouldn't go back.

The Dock always delivers and I pay at least one visit whenever Iâm in New Glasgow. Ambience is warm and cozy pub style. The food is consistently excellent and my favourites are the mussels, always fresh and cooked perfectly, and the blackened haddock. Good selection of craft beers, and my usual is a Kitchen Party by Big Spruce. Servers are friendly and attentive. Prices are very good for the quality and prime location downtown. Thereâs street and other parking nearby and thereâs the town lot not too far away. For a warm relaxing place with comfort food, craft beer and friendly staff, this is the place to go in New Glasgow.

The Bistro is an understated looking place from the outside but inside is a cozy bistrowith excellent food and warm friendly Maritimes service. The menu has delicious salads and seafood appetizers. I had mussels which were absolutely delicious. Very fresh, plump and juicy cooked in a tasty sausage broth. There are several pasta dishes and seafood and meat dishes. I tried the pasta which was also excellent. Desserts include traditional creme brûlée and pecan chocolate pie. Nice selection of wine by the glass or bottle. Street parking or a short walk from the town lot. Reservations are a good idea especially on Saturday.

First of all, this is a remarkably pleasant setting. Great building and decor. Tables far enough apart so that you can converse easily without a lot of "ambient noise" from others. The two women serving are charming. All that being said, both my wife and I were not so impressed with the food -- to be clear, the food was good, even very good if one wants to be generous, but not really excellent or superb.

I have been to this modern diner twice in about two weeks. I read the reviews and I frequent New Glasgow for work often so I thought that I would try it. Both times I had the chicken burger, which you can get grilled or southern fried. Both times I have had the southern fried which comes with a red pepper mayo and lettuce. I also order the sweet potato fries with the curry mayo each time. The sweet potato fries are an extra $2 but you get a TON and they are good. Probably the frozen kind but I do not mind. I am not a fan of curry but I like the curry mayo they serve with these fries. My most recent visit I brought my brother, who had the special of a burger with a mac and cheese patty on it and sweet potato fries. My mother had an open faced hot turkey and mashed potatoes. My mother did not enjoy the hot turkey. She said the turkey was old and not enough gravy. My brother really enjoyed his burger and sweet potato fries. It is honest diner food. Nothing fancy. Lots of good choices on the menu. It is the type of place where the food is hot and pretty good. Not five stars but it is worth a stop if you are going by,
