The Porch Light is a distinctive bar and restaurant located in the heart of Ontario's most beautiful village, Elora.
Quaint little restaurant in Elora, very welcoming and friendly staff.Interesting different menu, great choices, making it hard to choose as everything looks delicious. I guess we will need to come back to try other menu items. I had the beef and chorizo chili, while my wife had the salmon cakes.Chilli was a bit bland, but salmon cakes were awesome. Will try the French Canadian meat pie next time around. Being French Canadian myself, that will be the test!Patio gave a nice entertaining view of the other tourists milling around

We had Alaskan Halibut and chips for lunch and -as expected by the Tripadvisor reviews- both the fish and the chips were excellent. What made it even better was they have a small patio with three tables and umbrellas, which made for a very relaxing time.

Both my my husband and I have been trying to avoid eating much gluten or starch over the past few weeks to improve our health. My husband especially, is quite sensitive to it. So when we do out to a restaurant, we quite often will order veggies and/salad in place of the bread and potatoes. Most restaurants are fairly accommodating on this front. This restaurant did accommodate, quite substantially for me. I ordered a souvlaki dinner with veg instead of the potato and rice. It was excellent. My husband, however, had ordered a breakfast of steak and eggs with garden salad instead if the potatoes and toast. He may have received about a cup of salad with his steak and eggs. Though they were cooked to perfection, he was still left hungry at the end of the meal, AND there was an upcharge for the salad. Honestly, they saved money on the potatoes and bread. Why should there be an upcharge on the little bit of salad he received? If someone with a food sensitivity is ordering in a restaurant, I don't think that they should be gouged for it. Seriously. If you don't want to really alter your meal this establishment has great food. If you need to alter it in any way though, you WILL pay more and sometimes get less. Just saying.

We serve delicious, fresh: savoury and sweet crepes, e-made baked goods and soups, coffee brewed from our bold, rich coffee from del Rio Coco, San Juan Nicaragua. We are also fully licensed. Every Tuesday night we host an Acoustic Jam Circle - come take p
I can't begin to tell you how fantastic this place is to visit. My husband and I heard of it and thought let's try it. Charlie Cares was performing and he was FABULOUS. The Saint Jacques Crepes were simply devine. The butter, brown sugar crepes fabulous. The employees very friendly. We will be going back and recommending to all our friends.

We had been to this restaurant in the previous location and always liked it. We decided to go with our daughters last week and were rather disappointed with the quality of the food. I order the Guinness stew with mashed potatoes and peas and it had no flavor. The potatoes looked like they had been left in the fridge for a few days and re-heated. They were clumpy and hard (not good for mashed potatoes) The peas were shriveled and not very well cooked and the Yorkshire pudding was soggy. The waiter was very nice but the service was slow. Not sure if we will ever go back.

Had the smoked salmon bagel. At typical cafe price ($10) it was really good. One of the best salmon bagels I've had in a long time, especially the quality of the bagel itself. There's one seat at the upper level which is nice and cozy. Lots of neat art on the walls.

I visited here looking for breakfast on a summer Saturday morning around 8:20 am and the place looked maybe half full. I came because of the great reviews. Thereâs a diner style counter when you enter at the front, a sign that says âwait to be a seatedâ, and then many tables at the back. A lady behind the counter asked me âtable for how many?â and I said âjust oneâ. She replied something that sounded like âwe only have tables for twoâ and then continued with her work on the tables in the back. I took that to mean that âsinglesâ should sit at the counter - or that she going to prepare a table for two for me I really wasnât sure and she was gone so I couldnât clarify. So I sat at the counter but then quickly got the impression she wasnât at all interested in serving me for some reason and decided I didnât want to start the day off with a bad experience. I decided to quickly cut my losses and look elsewhere. YMMV of course.

A French inspired restaurant in the heart of Elora
Sophisticated dining salon, cozy patio, your choice. Great music, beautiful ambiance, well designed, impeccable! Don't miss the "baguete & butter" to start. Bread comes warm, butter soft and the "fleur de sel" pulls it off all together. You'll love it!I recommend you try the "Belgium Mussels" with a beautiful Rose from the wine list.We went on a Sunday evening of a long weekend. The owner was there, taking care of everything. We appreciate the personal attention. For such a dining experience, the prices are very good. Enjoy!

A cozy dining spot with an outdoor patio overlooking the river. Join us for lunch or dinner!
I have never been so mistreated....As I was told to do, I made a reservation for 12:30 on Sunday. At that time I asked for a seat by the river and was told they do not reserve spots, itâs first come first served. We arrived early and there was a nice table for two by the river. I was told I canât have that table cause itâs reserved... What!! I came first and what wrong with me that they wouldnât let me have that table after being yelled at by the owner that itâs a busy summer?? We left. Avoid this place they all ready have too many costumer, hope the owner is nicer to them NOT GOOD SERVICEId like to start this response by also saying I've never been more mistreated by a customer. In the 9 years years I have owned this restaurant I was shocked at how verbally abusive you became to not only me, but my husband and my 16 year old daughter who also work at The Cellar. You became so irate that even the musicians you came to see asked you to leave. They were so apologetic to me and were so very sorry and embarrassed their "friend" acted this way over a table by the water.I did reserve you a table, I'm sorry you did not like the placement of it. You were placed by the musicians because there was a note in the book that you came to see them. I hope you find enjoyment in the rest of this beautiful summer :) Janet
