If you’ve never thought much about North Dakota, maybe it’s time you started. Boasting miles and miles of hiking trails, including the Lewis and Clark trail, in addition to multiple museums, golf courses, casinos and amusement parks, North Dakota is bursting with things to do. Situated smack between the Great Lakes and the Pacific Ocean, North Dakota was once called “America’s Most Affordable Vacation Site” by the American Automobile Association. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark are two of North Dakota’s most famous residents. Tracing the courses of the Missouri and Columbia and rivers, the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail stretches through 11 states. Thanks to their explorations, visitors to North Dakota with an interest in history can do some exploring of their own. Bismarck is not only the capital of the state, it’s also home to several Lewis and Clark historical sites including Fort Yates, where the pair stopped to trade with the Mandan Indians. For family fun in Bismarck, don’t miss the Dakota Zoo and Raging Rivers Waterpark. With more golf courses per capita than any other state (11 in Bismarck and Fargo alone), golf lovers are sure to find a course to their liking. Agri-tourism is also a popular activity in North Dakota, which ranks first in the production of spring wheat, durum wheat, sunflowers, barley, honey and other crops.

Nice campground located just north of the interstate. Easy to find and get in and out of. We have a big fifth wheel camper so finding spots to park can be challenging. We have stayed at this KOA three times now and Mike (Manager/owner) has always made arrangements to accommodate us. There is a pool but we haven’t used it. Campground is clean and they have a nice little store for those last minute “oh crap we forgot …” items.

Devils Lake's only full service lakeside resort. We have everything you need to make a fun family or guy trip getaway.
Went up for the weekend to go fishing using Perch Partol guide service. The resort in very nice, we got the 2 bedroom suite on the second floor. Very open spaces, it had couches, chairs, tv, kitchen table, countertops, fridge, stove etc. Lots of room. The bathroom was tiled very nicely, nice shower. The bedrooms are nice, they had two beds in each of the bedrooms. We had a balcony to look out at the frozen lake as well. They lobby was very nice and open, they had a merchandise store and bait shop. Free coffee down stairs. They had it setup that Perch Partol picked us up at 7:15 in the morning and took us out to our lake. The package provided 2 free breakfast buffets that were wonderful, 2 sack lunches for when out on the ice when we were fishing and 3 dinners at night after we got back. Everything was well organized, we didn't have to worry or think about anything. All we had to do is just have fun.

This campground is real nice and served its purpose for an overnight stop. Clean level lots, seemed to be all pull throughs. Nature trail and kids playground with reasonable rates. Road in is rough just drive slow.

We stayed here in August 2021 and loved boondocking at this campground. We had a 36ft Class A with tow vehicle and appreciated the pull thru sites that had plenty of room to spare. No hookups or dump station, so be prepared. Sites along the west side have great views out to the hills and walking paths to the river. Very quiet campground with short drives to great hiking at TRNP. Be careful of bison driving at night, they appear where you least expect them! We had site 9 which was one of the best sites for views with a big rig.

North Park RV Campground, located in Dickinson, ND provides daily, weekly and monthly RV camping. Our goal is to provide affordable camping in a safe, clean, quiet, and family friendly atmosphere. So whether you plan to stay for a night, a week, or longer, we want to make your stay the very best!
I called ahead of time specifically asking for a pull through site, we have a 44ft 5th wheel. The owner stated they had availability, when we got there she put us in a back up site after asking repeatedly for a pull through. She stated because we have kids that the back up site would be better for us. I didn’t ask for her opinion and when I stated again I wanted that I wanted a pull through side she told me I could go elsewhere because she’s the owner. She also placed us so far out that we couldn’t even get access to the Wi-Fi. Will definitely not stay here again.

This campground is a perfect base for visiting Theodore Roosevelt National Park, $25/night for an electric site. There are primitive sites and sites for campers with horses as well. A round pen is on site and each horse campsite had a corral for at least 2 horses, some had more. Showers are free for registered campers, there is a fee to use the showers if not camping. Showers are clean, hottest showers I have taken while camping. There is access to the Little Missouri river, very low during our visit. Sites are flat and easy to access. In addition to your $25/night camping fee there is a $7/day fee to be in the campground because it is a state park. State parks back home are like this also but they offer activities or have something other than just camping. No flush toilets, just vault toilets. Normally this is not a problem but these have not been emptied in a very long time. The smell and flies are pretty bad due to being so full. We just came from another campground with vault toilets that were cleaned out and had very few flies so it is not just because they are vault toilets. I would recommend this park but just be aware there are no activities to validate the $7/day fee and the toliets are pretty gross.

I found Pipestem during a cross country trip during the height of the pandemic and was looking for an isolated, safe place to rest for a few days. Pipestem was exactly what I wanted. Beautiful views of miles and miles of farmland all around. The hosts were as friendly as could be, accomodating and helpful. After a day of rest, I managed to spend a day hiking around the bird sanctuary....delightful! The cabin was not new, but it was extremely clean, ordered and very comfortable. I would welcome another stay here the next time I travel cross country.

Stayed here with a family of six and loved it. Not crowded. Budget friendly. Clean showers and bathroom. Friendly camp host. Beautiful sunsets. Walking trails. Tent sites and RV sites. Close to Medora and Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

We’ve been coming to Medora Campground once a camping season for pretty much the last 10 years of do. This was the absolute worst! $180 for three nights and I was packed in between two other campers. It was pretty much I could have my slide out or my awning but not both. Site 709 is terrible. The sewer hook ups were within about 8 feet on both sides of my camper. No exaggeration. They have a brand new section of 50 amp sites but I was told they were not putting anybody in that section to allow the grass to grow. That was early Friday evening. Two campers were in the new section Saturday. The new section has nice size spots. I did not hook up my sewer because it was next to the camper next door picnic table. Anyway, we left a day early because of this spot. The staff was nice. I know this isn’t their fault but that’s a lot of money for the cramped spot we were in.

Roughrider is a full hookup RV park that is open year round. We have showerhouses open 24hrs, and laundry room onsite. We have some fun for families to spend time together with volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, ladderball etc. with a playground for the smaller children.
The good news is that this part was easy to find and being self contained can not rate the bathroom facilities. Having said that, we had to wait a good 15 minutes to find anyone to get us checked in. Had to ask a younger man (son?) to find help for our registration. Our space was long enough without a disconnect and utilities were convenient. The space was mostly dirt as were the interoir roads,,,with a splattering of sand/gravel. Would not think it to be a good spot in the rain! Not sure there are other better campgrounds near Minot but will try to find next time in the area. We camped at Roughrider in a tag axel coach with toad.
