Although it's only a 30-minute ferry crossing away from mainland Chile across the Chacao Channel, verdant Isla Chiloe – the largest in the Chiloe archipelago – is another world. Sixteen wooden churches clustered around Castro on the island's east coast have UNESCO World Heritage status, and traditional palafitos (houses on stilts) dot its shores. To the west, Chiloe National Park shelters foxes, sea lions and otters and provides unspoiled terrain for horseback riding, sea kayaking and fishing.

The room was fully equipted. It had a kitchen that, even though was small, had everything we needed to cook; the hot water worked with no problems; and we had a heating system and a fan (that worked quite well to cool down the room). It has a secure parking space that you can enter and leave any time you want because they give you the controller to open the gate. The only two problems that we had were that the bed covers were a bit too tight to fit the mattress, and that the reception was not always working during the time it was supposed to be open (this made check out a bit complicated) but overall a great place

My wife and I stumbled across this place while driving down chiloe and looking for accommodation for the night. We stopped because they had a nice wooden sign and when we saw the cabanas we didn't look any further. They are spotlessly clean, incredibly cosy and have all the amenities you could need. We ended up staying 3 nights and the lovely lady who owned the place (who didn't speak English but that wasn't a problem) lit the stove for us before we had out bags out of the car. We would definitely recommend staying here, and if you have a rental car it is easy to have day trips to the national park and Ancud to see the penguins while stopping at the great little villages or beaches along the way.

We arrived on a dismal, dark winter evening after a long bus journey and were greeted by a roaring fire in the wood burning stove and a very warm and cosy cabin. The owner went out of his way to help us, all other staff we met were lovely too. We woke up with the tide in, water below us and black necked swans feeding. Wish we could have stayed longer, great value for money and regular buses into Castro. A memorable stay and I would recommend.

Founded two decades ago, this rural lodge offers the tightest conection with natural landscapes without the interruption of the modern world. Each cabin has a private parking, equipped kitchen, activities nearby and much more
My girlfriend and I spent ten nights at one of Caulin Lodge's cottages and, first of all, we were amazed by the beauty and peacefulness of the place. The cottage was well equipped and its fireplace had a fire going when we arrived. The staff was very polite and helpful. There were a lot of activities to do and places to see.

Kind owners and staff. Super speedy laundry, cabanas are cosy but well appointed. Log fire is effective and dry wood and fire starter are provided in the cabana. Ours had parking underneath which helped to shelter us from the rain.
