To call the Wonder Café part of the British 'Greasy Spoon' brigade, is to denigrate a brilliant example of a classic catering genre. Sure, they fry stuff, but what's wrong with that? Any day now some medic will assure us that smoking cigarettes has benefits unrecorded to date (can't wait). Think I'm joking? Look how dairy products fly in and out of the lists of proscribed foods. 'Healthy' smoothies? No such thing....today. Just wait awhile.Anyway, none of these items have anything to do with this brilliant eaterie in the outskirts of Uxbridge on an unprepossessing road close to 'orrible Hayes. It supplies everything that your average working male Brit (and, like this one, long retired, somewhat crushed by Life, males too) desires in an all-day breakfast establishment. Starting with a high degree of un PC conversation with the order taker, who applies the moniker 'sweetie' to every punter, be they wrinkled or raddled, tattooed or just tatty. Any idea how such a greeting adds joy to the existence of your average male, especially one who has not been granted that title since 1979? The answer is 'deep', as Stanley Unwin would have said (you have to be over 60 to understand that reference). Sure, the furniture & fittings in this place are workaday (why not? They serve lots of workers, after all), but the housekeeping is immaculate, the supply of condiments is plentiful and unrestricted and the cutlery is spotless (as are the toilet facilities outside). Napkins require no begging (note well, Starbucks and Costa).But the best has yet to come: within a few minutes of taking a hot beverage to an empty space, a plate of fragrant beauty appears, holding veggie sausages, hash browns, beans and two fried eggs, each skillfully cooked and with not an iota of grease in sight. Even that experience is topped by the bargain cost: £5.70, about the charge for two miserable flat whites in any of the coffee chains which abound in High Streets throughout the Queendom.Stand on me, in this establishment, everything is fresh, from the cheerful banter to the wholesome ingredients. It's truly a Wonder how they manage it for the price, but more power to the chief skillet wielder and please keep breathing in and out until I can make my next visit. You've made an ageing Brit a happy eater (and wouldn't that be a great name for a chain of roadside restaurants?).

Nicely presented place, with a short simple menu made with great ingredients. Get one of their lovely homemade soups or stews, the bread selection it comes with is amazing, something quite out of the ordinary. Hot chocolate and coffee are good quality too.

We have visited a couple of times since it re-opened. Spotlessly clean with friendly staff this is now our 'go to' place if we are out and about and in search of breakfast or lunch.A very extensive menu together with a wide selection of cakes and good coffee make this place very good value for money.

These girls are absolutely amazing they prepare the most amazing fresh home cooked food I have ever eaten from any establishment. They are always willing to put together what you personally want with no complaints what so ever. Great girls and great food a must have for anyone looking for a decent breakfast/lunch.All the railway lads!! X

This is situated before security in Terminal 3 T Heathrow. Ideal for a meal with friends who you are seeing off. Service was friendly and efficient. We had an avocado sandwich and a fish finger sandwich. Both were excellent. Modern decor with a bar atmosphere. Recommended.

I know that there are many reviews commending Jane and her amiable personality and although I have never had the pleasure of meeting her I have to, once again, sing the praises of Karolina. Oh WOW, she is a real star of this great bar. So friendly, polite and just a great asset to this bar. There are very few employees who possess such a fantastic work ethic................she never stops ! I have no idea where she gets her energy from but I dearly wish we had employees half as good. Undervalued ? probably, but she is so likeable, she could work practically anywhere and do so well. Give her a raise !!!

This is a proper cafe, your typical greasy spoon and sometime you just need a decent fry up. If you don't fancy a fry up, they do really good jacket potatoes, salads, lasagne and greek food. Good prices, quick service, and the staff get to know you and happy to share jokes etc. Great team, great food, great prices!

Loved it. Looking to eat outside the hotel and we found this around the corner. Unassuming restaurant - don't be put off from the front room which is more cafe style, they have a smart little area around the back of the bar with full table service.Grilled Octopus, squid, salmon and beef were all excellent - generous portions, served with either salad and chips, potatoes and properly cooked (not mushy) veggies and some fried maize.Tastes were great, service friendly and family style. Proper good pour of house red which was soft, warm and worked with the food. I'll be back the next time we have a night out of Heathrow.
