Cafe Ambio has grown from strength to strength over the years since it opened behind the Lakeland Motor Museum. I have never had a bad meal there and their roasts, cakes and scones are the best! As a local I may be biased but I can't find anywhere better, even at the local 5* hotels!*** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ***

The Coach House @ Ford Park has an excellent daytime menu. From full meals to cakes and afternoon teas, all are freshly cooked on the premises using local ingredients and produce from our own Kitchen Garden just a few yards away. Set in nine acres of park
Terrible service. Food took ages to come, (1 hour) for 2 meals, it wasnt at all busy, it was slightly warm not hot. The bacon was more fat than meat. When the girl brought our food she dropped half of it on the floor and caught some in her hands she then chucked the onion rings she had caught back onto my plate... disgusting. Toilets stunk and one was blocked. Tables were sticky and dirty as were the high chairs.Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you had this experience and that we did not deliver our usual level of customer service. We make all food to order and at busy periods, food service can be slower that our usual service time but we always endeavour to serve food as quickly as possible. We have thoroughly investigated your concerns about the waitress and we have taken the appropriate actions to ensure that this never happens again. As a community organisation, we offer free access to our toilets to all members of the public using the park, whether they use the café or not. We regularly clean them and inspect them throughout a day. If our customers are unhappy with our service and facilities, we would ask them to let us know at the time and we will attempt to address any issues raised.

Popped in for coffee and cake a couple of times and for brunch too. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. Everything is freshly prepared, locally sourced and decent portions. There is a big comfortable terrace if you have your four-legged friend with you or fancy some fresh air, and plenty of inside seating too. Walk there through Ford park or down off the Hoad and reward yourself with a latte and slice of cake!

My fiance and I visited Gillam's on 05th July 2019, hoping to have a milky coffee, scone with jam and cream ( one of our favourite treats). What a disappointing experience as everyhing(apart from carrot cake and shortbread biscuits), was vegan. We are not vegan so were not happy to find a severe lack of choice available to us. The scone was rocklike and crumbled to a fine dust and the strawberry jam was like water, and dripped everywhere. We are not against vegan food however those who are non-vegan, should not be forgotten about. There was nothing on the sign outside stating that it was predominantly vegan, otherwise we would not have entered the premises. Quaint old building with a lot of the original features but that does not suffice when one is looking for suitable refreshment.

We are a simple but clean and friendly traditional Market Cafe. At the Market Café you can expect time-honored British snacks, meals and real value for money without compromise in quality or service. We don't do posh, but we do aim to do simple very well.

Ah, yes, LaFB, and its 'green' soup with crusty bread, the smashed avocado on sourdough, and even the humble sausage sandwich, were 'collared' as the usual suspects guilty of gastronomic excellence! What a place! Wonderful! And lovely staff too... where does the owner hide them? Lock them away in the cellar? If you want a calm, relaxing, unbearably tasty nibble far from the madding crowd, go no further.

Contemporary industrial-style Italian cafe-restaurant serving wood-fired pizzas, Italian small plates, barista coffee, artisan-baked savouries and sweet treats in a relaxed, stylish and casual environment. Fully-licensed: Italian micro-brew beers, wines a
Passed a number of times when it's not been open, lucky this W/E. Coffee is very good and the scones were still warm served with plenty of butter and lovely blackcurrant jam, which is a nice change. Service was efficient and friendly, price was very reasonable. It is quite small and narrow so may not be super accessible.

Must admit to never really considering a visit to this cafe before but we were looking for a cooked breakfast and as it was just after 11am nearby alternatives had stopped serving breakfast in favour of lunch items. The Hot Mango serves breakfasts until 3pm.The breakfast menu is wide ranging from 2 slices of toast for £1 to a double full English at £8.50 - all freshly cooked and yummy !Hubby had the big English breakfast and I had the Baby one and we shared a 2 slice portion of toast and a pot of Earl Grey tea which did about 5 cups between us. Coming in at £17 it set us up in grand style for the day. They do a range of sandwiches, snacks and deserts throughout the day

This little café is there to be appreciated. Full of trinkets and goods, your eyes wander to the hats and clocks that adorn the walls (as well as some items for sale). But take some time to savour the food on offer and try to resist a cake to follow!! I had the raebit with a veggie topping and wished I had more time for that cake but had to dash. Must leave more time for cake next time. And a gorgeous homemade lemonade too
