Owned by Prae Hamilton The Whole Earth Thai Bistro serves fresh and tasty cafe food by day (think cooked breakfasts, jacket potatoes, coffee and cake) and on Friday and Saturday nights is transformed into a Thai restaurant and takeaway.
Stumbled onto this lovely little cafe.Decided on salad and onion soup, wow beautiful.Lunchtime menu with limited thai content, although by fare the best cafe in Monmouth, recommend to anyone.4star only due to the tap water being served warm!Sometimes it's the little touches that make the difference.

Having already tried breakfast at the neighbouring Willowbrook garden centre, we thought we would give the Blackdown breakfast a try. When we found the entrance we had to walk through all the departments till we finally arrived at the restaurant section. Despite the centre having several in-store clothing shops, the restaurant was definitely not on a par with other âdestinationâ centres. The breakfast itself was quite good, though toast was not offered as an option to fried bread, neither was there a choice as to how the eggs were cooked. The thing that struck me was that the restaurant was tired looking and not as clean as it could have been. Despite it being fairly early in the day, several tables had crumbs on them. The chrome frames of the tables were covered in smears and the backs of the leatherette chairs had marks on them. The overall effect was of âtransport cafeâ rather than somewhere to âgo for coffee/lunchâ. A little bit of effort however could make this a nice place.

A fine old-fashioned tea room in the centre of historic Chepstow. We serve light lunches and sweet treats, along with a range of hot and cold drinks.
A really quaint tea/coffee house with eclectic table ware and a mixture of formal tables and chairs as well as comfy sofas Good selection of food and excellent coffee as well as a comprehensive selection of teasService excellent A very welcoming ambiance

We all love toast and celebrate it in all its golden glory! The nostalgic, homely and comforting smell. Raise a glass together to love, friendship & health
Called in today with a colleague, had not been before (last time i was here it was in about 1978 - it was one of the few places that a teenager could get served as I recall). Anyhow, its now a lovley little community type cafe. The two ladies who served us were charming (big change from 1978!). My tea came in a REAL Teapot, accompanied by a nice traditional tea cup, how many places (apart from the Ritz) can you say that about. What a wonderful little place, I will be back.

I will admit I only went in for coffee & a cake following a day out in Chepstow on the train. Its Ok but I must be out on cinque with the everyone else because I don't understand where all the 5 out of 5 scores come from.It is a small part of the station building on Chepstow station. It was clean & the lady serving was polite & helpful. The coffee was ok, but I have had better. I had the only type of cake that was available which was a homemade flapjack, which fell apart when I picked it up & made it very difficult to eat.I go out a lot & write lots of reviews & I write them as I see it. On the strength of 1 visit would I call again, no, but I accept I am in the minority & everyone else seems to love it.Hi Diddy,Thank you for your review,May i start by saying our homemade flapjack is a sell out, Its not your rock hard stuff you by in supermarkets that you can hardly get your teeth in to.All our customers love it so we will continue to make it the way we do.., We also are not a coffee shop ,We are a traditional cafe serving home cooked meals, Allday breakfast, 99.9% of our customers love it , Sorry you were slightly disappointed ,but sometimes we cant always please everyone.

We ducked into this café for a lunch on a rainy afternoon after hiking to the Devilâs Pulpit. It was cozy and warm. I had the poached salmon served with delicious small potatoes and a sauce as well as a country salad (rocket, beans, cucumber, lettuce, and beets). All delicious. My friend had the three Welsh sausages (not very spicy) served with gravy and mashed potatoes which looked and was reported as being very good. We finished our meals with coffee and homemade muffins â also excellent.

A family run business situated on the A48, overlooking the Cone Valley Brook. Swan House Tea Room is the perfect venue to enjoy a morning coffee, glass of wine with a light lunch, cream tea or delicious homemade cake. Afternoon Tea our speciality. - Morni
Went for afternoon tea to celebrate a friends birthday. The table looked so pretty with beautiful tablecloth and bone china cups, plates and serving plates. The sandwiches, pastries, both savoury and sweet, and cakes were absolutely delicious, and the service was brilliant. There is a huge choice of scones, and plenty of lovely cream and home made jam go with them! It was a real treat! We are delighted you enjoyed your visit to Swan House Tea Room. Thank you for leaving such a lovely review.Hopefully see you again soon.Best wishesSwan House Tea Room Team

Had a family lunch here as we were visiting the Abbey. Food was awful - badly presented, terrible tasting and evidently made using lowest quality ingredients.Service was curt and unfriendly to say the least. Place is very shabby and worn - cleanliness/appearance left a lot to be desired. Suffice to say if it wasnât for the favourable position next to Tintern Abbey I cant imagine anyone would ever eat here. We left most of our lunch uneaten - and at £25 for some sandwiches for 4 people - it wasnât cheap.Wouldnât recommend.
