We stayed at Bennydale Lodge the night before starting the Timber Trail. What a find. Quiet, well appointed, and fantastic food. We had a roast lamb meal + chocolate dessert for dinner, full English breakfast, and came away with a bag of healthy, yummy lunch for the trail. Only cost $210 for 2 of us: dinner, bed, breakfast and lunch (which was also morning and afternoon tea!) Very friendly, helpful staff.

The Treehouse sits just outside the hustle and bustle of the city and provides a full a la carte menu as well as a fully licensed bar, NZCT gaming room, full HD tvs, pool tables and fantastic outdoor dining areas. With ample off street parking The Treehou
Went for lunch service was great food was excellent..two points...1:Music did not suit the atmosphere esp at lunchtime..maybe at midnight 2: the dress of the staff did nothing to enhance the standard that should be in this place..very untidy Other than that good place for lunch and also at night

Amazing coffee and service. The cabinet food is always delicious as well especially the donuts or hummingbird cake! Couldnât recommend more highly as a go to stop in Hawera for a meal or snack.

Just a short drive from New Plymouth, lahar is a great place to meet people and eat delicious food.Pizzas served after 530pm. Days menu has tasty kiwi brunch items and the salmon stands out. The hollandaise sauce is perfect Sausages could be better but this is a NZ wide problem.Has varied indoor and outdoor seating so kids can run around tormenting each other. Plenty of parking it's a new mothers dream place to go.

We went to the cafe at the Pioneer Village a couple of years back and it was very ordinary, but I presume it has new owners and they've made a great effort to lift the 'bar'. The decor is cosy and makes you want to linger, which for us, is what a visit to a cafe is all about - time to enjoy the surroundings with a great meal and a good coffee!. We looked over the lunch menu and found a number of mouth watering options. Walking into this the Shakee Pear Cafe we felt instantly 'at home' and this feeling was a delight as we have struggled to find a half decent cafe in and around Stratford for quite some time now. In previous years would drive all the way from Stratford to Egmont Village, or New Plymouth for some ambience and decent presentation of food and good coffee! And so, the coffee here is 'spot-on' and that says a lot about the barista knowing their coffee and how to make a good cup.So A BIG Thanks to the owners and the staff of the 'Shakee Pear Cafe' for making our visit a memorable one, somewhere where travellers to stratford can we look forward to a great experience when passing through. I wish you every success.

We loved this place for breakfast. The Irish owner's free range eggs cooked in butter are a joy. Overall a very good place. It is also the first place we were able to get a decent Americano coffee and not just given a long black.

Monicas offering is based on quality fresh ingredients, locally sourced where possible with a modern Italian influence. There is an emphasis on A la carte however a counter offering is available daily. Monica's is a place to dine, eat, drink and take out.
Coffee delivered cold. Porridge undercooked and with water. Kedgeree over spiced with only a suggestions smoked fishPromised so much. Failed on execution

Two words, simply awesome. Federal Store was just down the road from where we were staying, having had breakfast at our accommodation we thought just to call in for a morning coffee before starting our day exploring New Plymouth. Oh boy what a popular cafe this was, it was full of atmosphere on our arrival with few tables spare inside. We ordered our coffees at the counter and resisted being tempted by the many delicious looking treats on offer in the cabinets, it was at this point that we both decided to come back for lunch. Our coffees were spot on, good blend, my double espresso was smooth and the right temperature, I wanted another. Same thing at lunchtime, the cafe was near full, it was buzzing with energy. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the chicken and bacon toastie was loaded with meat, very flavoursome and a decent portion size. The pumpkin and feta frittata was moist and delicious, both dishes were served with a side of mixed lettuce mix and a swirl of dressing. To finish we had to have a lemon meringue pie to share, it was adorable, served with cream, the pastry was great, the meringue was devine, soft and flowing into the lemon butter. The decor of Federal Store is retro, refreshing and unique in these times of so many cafes popping up, the uniforms of the staff are also very appealing. Service was prompt and friendly. Street parking is available on Devon Street or surrounding streets. All I can think is how lucky the residents of New Plymouth are to have such a fabulous cafe.

Gorgeous find, fabulous smiles and amazing iced chocolate. My iced chocolate was smooth creamy and best of all it was a full bodied chocolate flavour, even though I had cream on top it didnât spoil but only enhanced my experience. A busy lunch time didnât prevent our beverages from coming out fast and super delicious. An array of scrumptious fresh cabinet all looked truly spectacular hard to resist. The food that I saw leave the kitchen was mouth watering. You can sit out front either relax on a sofa or sit at a table, we chose to sit out back itâs a covered garden space, so you can enjoy the sun without the breeze.
