Things to do in Tamworth
We enjoyed a late breakfast at Megabites @ The Retreat. Situated in a wonderful heritage listed building, it was the perfect place to catch up with family.Brothers James and Jerrimy cooked up a delicious banana pancakes with a generous serving of fresh fruits as well as a sumptuous fruit toast with mascarpone and an assortment of berries. Quite magnificent! They also do a really nice coffee. The old schoolhouse was built in 1857 and much of the original stonework is still visible inside. The building has been repurposed as a cafe and IT business to ensure its ongoing viability as a Tamworth landmark.Theyâre open 6 days a week (closed Mondays) and they serve an interesting variety of cafe meals including gluten-free and vegan. Their cakes and slices looked fantastic!Weâll be back!

Unfortunately must have struck them on an off day. It has been very good whenever we have visited but today was not. Bagel not toasted sufficiently and fairly bland. Salt and pepper calamari was not cooked in the style as its name suggests. However, when staff were informed of this they were gracious and refunded part of our money. Would go again as its usually great here.

This cafe provided a nice and simple breakfast. The egg and bacon roll was very good as was the smashed avocado on Turkish bread. The coffee was very good. Only issue was the two meals, though ordered together arrived at separate times and after a reminder.

We ducked into this little cafe for a coffee with our children. Best babycino ever! Coffee could have been a bit stronger but was delicious. Kids drinks came with a lolly and a biscuit. Good service. Worth a visit away from all the franchised coffee shops in the area

Had lunch here yesterday after a few friends telling me about it. Great coffee, home made bread (like in France), quite a few people, tastefully decorated. A friend on a farm provides some of the organic fruit. There are wonderful cheeses, homemade chicken liver pate and other wonderful French yummies. Mouth watering! Philippe and the crew work hard and it has paid off. Just a little noisy if you are on the street, but there are tastefully decorated rooms inside

Okay, I accept my obsession with pancakes. After having brekkie in other places in Tamworth, my expectations had been lowered. This place was so good, great staff and so it enters my top 5 in Australia - that's right, it is that good!

stopped for lunch on our way through Tamworth. We had not heard of the cafe before, but the building looked attractive so we decided to call in.The menu was different, healthy and very tasty. The Turkey roll with pear walnuts cheese served warm with a salad of lettuce, nuts, peas, beetroot plus other bits and pieces was delicious as was the smoked salmon bagel. Ignore other cafes in Tamworth go to this one, on your drive through. It's just down from the golden guitar on the other side of the road. For something different for lunch, you wont be disappointed.

Happened upon this great little cafe in the middle of Tamworth. Great vibe with the retro furniture. The lunch has elements from all over - can vouch for the tacos and ramen. So good we came back for breakfast and again found ourselves really liking the menu. Really good service too. Couldnt fault this cafe.

We were staying at Tamworth overnight and decided to go out for breakfast. We checked TripAdvisor for a highly rated cafe and so decided to go to Gusto. The staff are really friendly and the cafe has a nice atmosphere. There is seating inside and out.My husband and I both ordered flat white coffees and the Smashed Avocado Breakfast. The coffees soon arrived and unfortunately were not up to scratch, the coffee beans tasting burnt. The Smashed Avocado arrived without the crushed roast walnut garnish, nor the wedge of lime. We asked the waitress who was very apologetic and raced off to the kitchen. She soon appeared with a small plate of walnut pieces. It was a shame that the chef or cook had not read the menu to remember what ingredients were supposed to feature in the meal.

With Tamworth Regional Playground on one side, the kiddiesâ water play park on the other side, the Peel River precinct behind and Tamworth shops a couple of blocks away, Hopscotch is ideally located for families, shoppers and business meetings. The coffee is great and the food is consistently delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. The staff are also friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. There are options for inside or outside seating as well as a takeaway coffee window. Highly recommended.
