We found Charlie's Cafe & Bar whilst wondering up Cavill Ave on our first afternoon in Surfers and saw the sign Corona's $3.90 each or a bucket of 4 $15 all day, how good is that! needless to say this was our afternoon watering hole. We did have a really nice dinner of pasta on night and it was delicious, but for us it was the fantastic staff, always attentive, friendly and not hassling you to buy food or drinks which is a nice touch in a holiday city. We throughly enjoyed our lazy afternoons at Charles, thanks for the great memories.

As the waves crash on the beach, the sunlight glistens over the iconic Surfers Paradise shoreline; relax and unwind at Elston. With a delectable, holistic and rustic menu, Elston will excite your senses. Open morning, noon and night, we combine a wine bar
Elston is located on the Esplanade and close to Cavill Avenue. On a Saturday morning, this looked to be a great location for a late breakfast. It was pretty full which indicates its popularity. Interestingly, tables filled up as quickly as people finished up and left. It is certainly thriving by the look of it.We started with coffees and juices. Coffees were piping hot and full of flavour. The juices were refreshing - with the watermelon juice particulalrly good. For breakfast, our party ordered Eggs Benedict, Smashed Avocado and Elston Feast. They were well prepared, generous and attractively presented. The Elston Feast was a feast to the eyes and the belly, including heaps of bacon, grilled chorizo, large mushroom and sauteed greens which were a delight. This is certainly a place to list among your favourites.

What a disappointment, went for breakfast with friends and the decor was lovely but thatâs about all that was. With the exception of one staff member at time of paying the table service was appalling, basic waiting skills do not apply here, the staff leaned across the table in front of friends to place plates rather than walk around - there was only 4 seated so not a large group. Staff uniform very questionable with mini skirts and bending over not a pretty sight at breakfast.Food was very basic, not particularly plated well or enticing but average in taste.

I was told it had been revamped since my last visit. Disappointed does not even touch the surface. Behind the bar staff were the only good thing about it. Food ordered was nothing like what is on the website. Fish and chips, usually you can't go wrong, but greasy dark brown batter was disgusting. Chips were like McDonald's fries.WTF. Schnitzel came out as a very dark brown tough piece of crumbed chicken. That's it no greens unless you order and pay extra for. Only specialty beers, one beer, one orange juice and one gin and tonic $27. Bottles of wine only cheapest being $40 for a house wine. Twice bitten now will never go back. ps: your tall male table staff Member is very rude.Hi Jenny, So sorry to hear you really did not have a great time with us here at Sandbar. Regarding the pricing, we really do have comparable if not cheaper prices than most of Surfers Paradise. If you were unhappy with the food at the time we would have been more than happy to cook you a replacement if you had of let us know. None-the-less we do apologise that you did not have a positive experience with us and will definitely take your feedback on board and let our kitchen and FOH teams know.Kind Regards,Sandbar Team

Rhapsody Beachside is a licensed café and restaurant located on the ground level of the Rhapsody Resort and opposite the iconic Surfers Paradise beach in Gold Coast. We serve breakfast, lunch and organic fair trade coffee every day and Tapas/dinner from 3
My daughter and I had our first and sadly only 'dine in' dinner here on our first night (Saturday night). We had take out from here on the Sunday night for NRL Grand Final night (Pizza of course) and then they don't open again in the evening until Thursday night so that was it for us. But boy did it leave an impression! Lovely laid back, alfresco, family owned beach side cafe/bar serving what I would call top restaurant - dare I say (for my mushroom risotto) - Michelin star worthy - food. Beautiful wines, many sold by the glass. This place is a must visit. The pizzas are to die for too! Nearly made up for the Grand Final loss!! Good luck to this lovely little place. We'll be back for sure.Thank you Sally-anne K for your extremely descriptive and excellent review. So glad you and your daughter enjoyed your dining experiences with us. Commiserations on the Grand Final outcome. Thank you for your kind and well wishes we would love to see you again. Jen

Breakfast here today.First impressions, quaint, great decore, good ambience, loved the multiple flower arrangements and the quality tableware.Order taken and meal to table time smart.Classic bacon and eggs times two. Comforting to have meals cooked well without having to specify how.Did have to request water and would have loved my coffee to be extra hot as ordered. Some waitstaff looked a little unsure of themselves (or maybe very new).Pleasant experience, would return.
