It is a hot spring hotel with only 4 rooms. There is a dining room. Reservations are only accepted for dinner. â»No reservation for lunch
English menu is available. Quaint restaurant with individual covess for diners. It is a yakiniku place so youâll have to cook some of the dishes you order. They serve horse meat. They also serve a mixed plate of chicken, pork and beef for those not inclined to horse meat. It is near the center of town.Thank you for using it.We recommend you to make a reservation at night. We are waiting for your visit.

Recommended by a friend, this cafe and guest room was an amazing find! We were warmly welcomed by the hosts and shown to the guestroom which was beautifully done out and spacious. Treated to an amazing 5 course dinner, with home made breads and locally sourced produce. Loved exploring the nearby Mount Aso and visiting the Onsen in the area. Natsuko and her family are charming and attentive hosts.

This place is incredibly difficult to get to, let alone trying to work out the directions on a map. The best way to find the cafe is to look for a small sign that jots off the main road that says 'Bear cafe', then you have to follow the dirt roads for the other Bear cafe signs for a while. The road does go back downhill once or twice before finally reaching the cafe which stands out as the only building in sight. The food is really what you would expect from a high-end cafe, some cake sets with coffee/tea and a few nice lunch items like a curry set. The quality of the food is quite surprising given how far away the cafe is located from civilisation. The best seats are of course the outdoor ones, with exceptional views over the mountain range with Mt Aso in the background. The only way to get to this place is with a Car, and even then it can be tricky to find, but it is definitely worth the effort if you happen to be in the area.

We were on our way from Kumamoto train station to Takefue ryokan near Mount Aso, when our taxi driver told us we were having a tea time break! When we approached a very unassuming doorway, the lovely smell of apple pie and cakes wafted out. The place was a real find. The restaurant inside was beautifully decorated with real wood tables and benches. The choice of coffee and tea was amazing as were the cakes. The apple pie was so light I even managed to finish an entire piece. It turns out that this family run eaterie has been running for over 30 years. The father owned an apple orchard and after a spending time in the US, came back and opened a bakery. The head baker is now his daughter who speaks good English and is happy to come out to welcome guests. The place also sells bread and pastries. Definitely worth a visit.
