Reviews on Cafe food in Leiden, South Holland Province, The Netherlands. Home to the Netherlands’ oldest university and the birthplace of Rembrandt, Leiden also served as a several-year stop-off between England and the New World for America’s Pilgrim fathers in the early 17th century. Today, lovely Leiden boasts the second-largest Dutch city center after Amsterdam. The National Museum of Antiquities has an impressive collection of Egyptian artifacts. The Hortus Botanicus, established in 1590, was the site of the planting of Holland’s first tulip bulbs in 1593.

Enjoyed eating here today. The staff were really helpful and friendly. We wanted vegetarian brunch and they were so considerate to explain the options available. Also really quick service even though it was busy. The outside terrace is a great place to watch people passing and is really close to the main streets of Leiden.

Just landed to Amsterdam and my friends took me to lunch here last weekend and I had my first ever Poké bowl which was delicious and healthy. The staff were friendly and efficient and food arrived fast. Overall a good experience and nice ambient with Christmas decoration too. Great for family and friends.

A mish mash of everything to decorate, mixed signals on level of quality, service etc. at an average price level. I had coffe and a good conversation, followed by even better cake, more coffee and brighter conversation. What more could one wish for on an average tuesday morning? The place consists of several separate spaces in an old building along the canal, and has a lovely sunny terrace next to the canal as well. We sat inside, next to the fabulous coffee machine. Staff is helpfull, but not overly friendly. At least this one wasn't, but it was early still ;-)

I very much enjoyed my coffee here. I was impressed that downstairs was open to people with very young children (Leiden could definitely use places like this). My only complaint was the number of individuals working on their laptops upstairs - there were so many of them, and they made it very clear they felt non-working visitors were disturbing them, even to the extent that they were pulling tables towards themselves and preventing people from sitting down in a crowded space. Inappropriate on the weekends. We decided not to have lunch here after all due to the obvious hostility from the laptop workers.

Welcome at Happy Tosti, a lunch-restaurant different than all the others. The majority of our employees have a labor disability. Most of the products we use are organic. We make the most wild tosti creations with fresh, healthy en high quality ingredients
The restaurant is located in a small alley off old center of Leiden inner city. What a find. They serve an unique Afternoon Tea set made of a selection of coffees or teas, fresh pressed orange juice, savoury Tosti with cheese, salami and cheese with ham, together with various mayo dips and chips. Deliciously prepared. This follows by an apple cake and Tosti made with chocolate and banana. Seriously good. All their staffs are so passionate and motivated. It is unique and if you are in the neighborhood, try ot, you won't be disappointed. We will return Dear Julie, What an amazing review! We appreciate your recommendation for the high Tos-Tea. Thank you for the 5* review, we hope to see you soon!

open early...serves breakfast till five..till FIVE! that's RIGHT sleep in and you won't miss a beat...but let's get down to the meat...or salmon, actually...the meat in this case is bacon on a wonderful piece of thick toast...accompanied by 2 perfectly poached eggs and smothered in, maybe(and i've eat this dish around the world, but mostly in the san francisco area. hundreds of times) the best hollandaise sauce i've ever tasted...thick, but not TOO...and that hint of lemon is there. the service was flawless and the atmosphere casual...and the price was undeniably reasonable...i can't believe i waited as long as i did to check it out...the last few establishments on this corner folded after a bit..i just thought this would do the same... SO glad it didn't...

we stopped here in the morning for coffee - it was a lovely place where there is a bakery, café, kitchen ware, Chocolatier - we sat and had coffee and hot chocolate which was very unusual as they give you hot milk and on the side there is a bowl of chocolate chips which you then add to your milk and stir. We loved it so much that we came back after lunch to have dessert and coffee which again was lovely - especially their apple pie.

Walking through Leiden is nice. Itâs a nice university town with a lot of pubs, bars and restaurants. On Saturdays there is a market so some of the boat terraces are hidden behind the market stalls. Roos is one of them. Itâs a small restaurant open for lunch and drinks with a terrace on the water. The terrace is very nice and you can see all passing boats in the canal. The menu is also good. We had the soup of the day, sandwich with tuna salad, a salad with goatcheese which was indeed very creamy, marinated chicken sandwich and a BLT. Food good but the chicken a bit dry. They have oatmilk for those who are allergic for lactose so they can have there lattes and chaithee too.

We stopped in this place on a chilly October morning to grab a hot drink and a snack. Cool & cozy place with great & helpful people working the counter and a decent size menu focused around bagels (of course). They offer a bunch of different bagels and spreads to accompany them. We ordered a couple of cappuccinos and shared a bagel. The bagel was crispy and hot and the big bowl of spread was enough to cover every bit of it; and the coffee was a perfect pick me up. If you are feeling adventurous they have a bagel with crickets, meal worms and a grasshopper, give it a try!

Very inviting place, quite cozy, lots of interesting details. The staff members are friendly and efficient. The house beer is excellent, my only complaint was I was driving so I could only have one! The menu had interesting choices. The dishes were tasty and well prepared.
