Dined her for an impromptu lunch. Opera kitchen has a great menu & also a wonderful range of cabinet food. Ordered sweetcorn fritters from the menu and dumplings from their daily special. Both simply devine. Fresh & beautifully presented. Great wines avail by the glass. Service here is very good, Opera Kitchen has a wonderful friendly buzzy vibe, Well worth the visit.

Breakfast visit, had poached eggs with bacon and multi grain bread. Made the mistake of asking for crispy bacon, it was so tough it was quite unpleasant. Had to ask for butter which came promptly. Coffee just OK. Would not bother again.

Although this Cafe has a large range of cabinet food, no choices for gluten free. I chose the beef and broccoli salad, warmed. Upon receiving my plate of broccoli and beef salad, there were only 3 tiny tiny slivers of meat in it. I couldn't believe that's what I got. I was in too much of a hurry to go and complain, but not impressed

Clifton cafe is under new ownership and no longer trades as Clifton Cafe CLIFTON CAFE Closed 10th April 2019
Had brunch here today and have to say, the whole experience was perfect. Got a table in the shade with views, the coffees came out almost straight away and were lovely. food was delicious - very happy tummies. All the staff were friendly. Impressed with menu selection - while it isn't huge it caters for V and GF and there's nice looking cabinet food too. A pleasure for you to enjoy. May I ask a favour. A great place to meet friends for lunch or afternoon tea. Fabulous selection of yummy food at reasonable prices. You can have full meals, snacks or cafe food. Excellent service and reasonably priced. Go there often. Can sit inside or outside and relax and talk with no pressure to leave as there is plenty of room. Recommended

We accidentially came across this fantastic restaurant whilst visiting the information centre in the same building. Set in the previously silk mercers building which was destroyed in the 1931 earthquake it is a restoration marvel. What a wonderful eating experience this was. With a very tempting menu and display cabinets and friendly staff we enjoyed a beautiful lunch and coffee to taste. Congratulations Cafe at Westermans

Maina operates as a cafe during the day with our own blend of coffee roasted by local, roasters, Hawthorne. Maina provides a full bistro service at night. Maina has achieved well in both local and national competitions and is proud to prepare and serve gr
Four of us went here early on a Saturday evening and the place was already quite busy. However the staff were were cheerful and made us fell very welcome. The menu had a good range of food - one of those places where you have trouble choosing a meal becasue there any several equally temting options. What we did choose was delicious and well-cooked - raning from pork belly to duck presse. I would go back there in a heartbeat for delicious food that is more interesting than what you would normally cook at home but not so avant garde that you don't relax and just enjoy the food.

I was told about this cafe when asking where was good for lunch and I was not let down. Friendly service and tasty food - I had a toasty Sandwich and fries and it was delicious. Reading my book when waiting the server jokingly told me it was time to put my book away and enjoy the food when it arrived. Looking forward to being in Hastings again so i can have another great lunch

Next to Golflands.
Went on Motherâs Day, which meant it was busy, but not hugely so. From the get go things were poor. Weâd booked by email a week earlier but they had trouble finding our booking in a very poorly organised schedule. We were seated in the dining area that looks like itâs still under construction. We were given menus, but as we learned later they took the all day breakfast off, leaving a limited lunchtime menu only. That was a pity as weâd gone online and had looked forwarded to certain meals. Nothing online told us that the all day breakfast would be cut on Motherâs Day. We ended up ordering the fish & chips, chicken linguine, pumpkin fritters and cheese burger. The food came out quickly. The fritters were beautiful (thankfully, as thatâs what the dual birthday girl/mother ordered!), the linguine and fish and chips were nice, but the burger was very bland, in fact it was simply tasteless. Our service was very average. The waitress was neither friendly nor informative and we had to ask for water for the table. Weâve been here a couple of times but i think this will be our last. Quite simply there are so many better options throughout Hawkeâs Bay offering better food, or setting, or service or mostly all three. Dear RickM638,I am sorry that we did not live up to your expectation on Motherâs Day.We are going through some renovations and had hoped to be a little further on by Motherâs Day. It is a very busy day for hospitality, and we did our best to keep all areas in service. We obviously failed to let you know at the time of your booking that we were only operating a breakfast menu between 8 and 11:30 and a lunch menu from 11:30 until close. For this, please accept our apologies. We do this primarily to ensure all our guests get a speedy service and do not have to wait too long for their food. Please understand that there is a big difference in volume of customers on Motherâs day compared with a normal day, I am please you mentioned the food came out quickly. I also appreciate your feedback regarding your meals. We have recently updated our menu to focus more on buying local and supporting our local Hawkes bay producers. The menu has only been going for 1 week and your feedback is most useful. I will bring your comments regarding the burger up in our management meeting tomorrow. I am pleased you enjoyed the other meals. I too am a fan of the fritters.I hope we can welcome you here again.Johnny
