Monday's not the best day for finding a place to eat but this little place was bustling. The countryside around is beautiful and this quirky pub sits in the landscape with great views. We arrived after quite a dew others but were pleasantly surprised by the speed in which our meals arrived. It's good pub food with a wide rsnge from fish to locally sourced meat. Very tasty too. It's low key and very friendly. It's worth following the wiiindy lanes to get here!

Imaginatively titled breakfast, but that's exactly what I was in search of. My week in the Lakes was nearly over and I wanted proper sustenance. The establishment is clearly a house that has been remodelled. Front room as a dining area, back room as the kitchen/display area. Anyway I love a good coffee too, so a full English + good coffee was ordered. It didn't take long, and the coffee was great and the full English good too. Very clean, tidy and exceptionally well mannered. Car park opposite. If you liked this review please click below and maybe see my others!
When in Grange-over-Sands, a visit to Higginson's Butchers is a must. The window displays alone will have you salivating. One side of the shop is devoted to displaying the scrumptious pies they make on the premises. Then, the other side of the shop contains the excellent meat of all kinds, displayed in a most wonderful way. The excellent appearance of the meat section has to be seen to be believed and the quality of the produce is outstanding.People travel from far and wide to sample the delights of this shop and so enjoy yourself by trying either a Higginson's pie, Higginsons delicious meat, or both. You won't be disappointed.

The two of us endured a rain storm and just wanted to sit have a bit to eat and dry off. Deciding on a table for four by the window so we had room to dry our jackets, a rather officious waitress tried to persuade her colleague to sit us in a corner table for two, she mumbled something about needing the table for lunch, this was 11.30. I made a comment we would not take long but got the feeling from her we were not welcome, if it hadn't of been for her helpful and obliging colleague I would have walked out and taken custom elsewhere. But the sandwich was really tasty and tea nice a refreshing. Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Sorry you did receive an initial friendly welcome, we do try and organise people and tables to suit but you should not have been made to feel unwelcome and I apologise. Our waiting on staff are usually a very friendly bunch so this comment did take me by surprise to be honest.

On a very wet Sunday we stopped off at the S Cafe before our trip along the sea front at Grange over Sands. Staff were pleasant and welcoming and served value for money snacks and beverages. We were happy with our purchases and delighted with the scones. We were served promptly and were happy with the charges. Thank you. I forgot to say we dried off after a walk over the hill from Cartmell.

We came to this lovely, welcoming looking cafe met by friendly staff. The food was gorgeous, simple bacon roll with ciabatta bread for me and English breakfast for my husband. My daughter got a great, filling lunch option (lovely bread, cheese, jelly, orange squash in a nice cup, crisps and a little cake). It was such a nice environment with the free WiFi also (bonus!) and Iâd visit again for the friendly staff and a chance to try the desert menu.

Called in here unexpectedly for lunch. You do now have to wait to be seated. Unfortunately fireplace area with comfy chairs is no longer there but more tables and chairs have been put in their place. Food and drinks excellent. Staff friendly.Thank you very much for your appreciation following lunch with us. You are right that it's a shame we have had to lose the comfy area, but despite our previous expansion we still required more seating for people to enjoy the cafe food and drink, for which we need proper tables and chairs. (Waiting to be seated just means that the staff are aware of new customers, and ensures fairness in the order of orders!) We appreciate you taking the time to review us, and hope to see you again.
