We just returned to this diner after nearly nine months away from the area. A new stove has been fitted to add additional warmth but, apart from that, we were pleased to find it still unchanged and as relaxed and fascinating as it ever was.Dogs are still the priority here! Well behaved humans are also welcome and can sample some of the best and cheapest coastal cuisine available in the South of England.Where else can you get a bacon butty, packed with lean bacon, for £2? Doggies eat doggy treats for free! This is a diner with a real difference! The management appears to concentrate on providing a comfortable oasis for doggies, a welcome for the companions of the doggies and a sociable atmosphere for everyone. If you âget itâ you will love it. If you donât âget itâ then either give it a try and learn, or avoid it! This is a very different and remarkable eating house that adds so much character to, and is a credit to, Gorleston!

We were in Gorleston to visit the Pavilion Theatre next door and looking for a meal we found this cafe.A friendly welcome. The meals we had were large and hot. Washed down by a large pot of tea between us. A good find for our meal.

Obviously very popular as it was very busy. We wanted to dine but could only find a coffee type table with armchairs. Due to our seating location we decided to order scones rather than a full meal as the table was very low. We had to order at the bar which took a considerable amount of time due to visiting in a busy period. As with our recent visit to Merrivale Tea Rooms, the cheese scone was dry but the fruit scone was better. I have to say that the pickle and cheese spread that comes with the savoury tea is delicious. The childrenâs meals are huge and this will obviously be a good for many visitors wanting value for money. Six fish singers was too much for our six year old though so if we were to order again I would ask for a smaller portion to avoid unnecessary waste. The chocolate milkshake looked impressive but again very big portion for a six year old so we will bear this in mind in future.

We visit Great Yarmouth every year and always have chosen Saras Tearoom as a lunch venue. Last week we visiited on two seperate days with our small grandchildren. The first visit we were very happy, food was lovely(can recommend the ham salad) service was good and not too long to wait. The 2nd visit 2 days later however did not go so well due to the surly attitude of the girl serving at the counter. I requested 2 adult meals and then 2 kids hot dog mini meals, one with chips and the other just with tomato and cucumber. ( I had ordered excatly the same 2 days before and it came out perfectly). The girl couldnt seem to grasp what I wanted and kept saying the hot dog came with garnish anyway and I tried to make her understand I was with a fussy 3 year old that may have a meltdown should any lettuce or cress appear alongside the tomato and cucumber. I also said another server had put the order through 2 days earlier with no trouble. There was quite a lot of sighing but as far as I knew she put the order through. When it was eventually served up I had 1 mini kids meal and a giant adult hot dog with salad garnish so I went to the counter to explain it was wrong. The girl at first wouldnt even look at me but when someone pointed out I was waiting she was very aggressive saying it was what I ordered and she had confirmed with me it was an adult hot dog at the time. That was a lie and her whole persona was aggressive and rude. She eventually agreed to change it but to be honest I was totally put off of going in there ever again and our lunch was totally spoilt. Its a shame as the food is good and the setting lovely but staff should have more training in manners.

Much too often these days eateries that cater for tourists do not think they have to worry about the quality of food as the tourists will be long gone and may never return. However, Jay Jays is a massive contrast to this, and rightly so, they appear to be one of the few restaurants that value your custom. On arrival noticing the high numbers of staff, this is a must for great service, the staff are very attentive and are there for your every need.We waited a reasonable amount of time for food to come to our table from ordering, the menu is extensive so everything has to be cooked from scratch, this ensures that the food will be tasty, hot and appealing. We had dishes ranging from a very fresh crab salad to a pulled pork bap, 5 dishes in all. All food was brought to the table at the same time, this is something that is a must for me.We sat inside and had an amazing view out to sea, was a little blowy outside, inside was clean and spacious.Looking forward to visiting again soon, maybe for Sunday lunch which looks really good.

Found Margoâs whilst visiting Gorleston-on-Sea for a hospital visit with a friend. This place is quirky, staff are very friendly and the scones are the best Iâve tasted. Would highly recommend Margoâs.
