Visiting the area, we had seen a local newspaper ad for pick your own plums, so we thought that we would give this a go! The property is located between Thorpe le Soken and Great Holland and has a poor, hand-written sign on Thorpe Road (B1033) directing you down Pork Lane. The property was easy to find on the bend and we found one of the last slots in the car park. The property is an odd mix of farm shop at the front of the building, cafe to the rear, PYO fruit trees to the rear and caravan storage off to the side. We picked two bags of plums from the orchard, which make supermarket produce taste like rubbish. The Czar and Reeves were the tastiest when we were there in late August. The cafe offers a good selection of homemade cakes, sandwiches and light lunches. They use their own produce, where possible. We had a slice of spicy carrot cake and a strawberry cream tart, with a mug of coffee and a pot of tea, all for a bargain £7. Thumbs up for the pot of tea also coming with a pot of boiling water. Service was excellent. The farm shop has a large fridge containing a selection of their own pressed apple juices, cheaper if you bring your own container along. There is a small selection of bread plus the usual array of veg plus their own suit if you don't want to go and pick your own.

Visited on a Friday just after noon, where the place was close to full. The menu is fairly standard with variety of breakfasts, sandwiches and jackets. There were a number of specials on chalk boards also.Simple ordering process of ordering at the counter and paying at the same time.Ordered 2 Big Breakfasts (£5.95) and paid an extra 75p for sautéed potatoes. The meals arrived after around 15 minutes. The quality of the produce was average to low end Iâd say, however for the price it was expected. The sautéed potatoes hadnât seen any butter as sautéed should and were simply frozen packaged sliced potatoes deep fried. The coffee was fine and adding an extra shot of coffee for 40p was just what I needed. All in all itâs a clean busy little cafe close to our doorstep. I would use again if feeling too lazy to cook :)

Six of us meet every Friday for lunch, we have tried most eating places around and our favourite is The Seaside Cafe, the staff including the governor are really helpful and always find time for a chat, the food is delicious, the menu vast and is great value for money, keep up the great work.

Bank holiday weekend, Sunday, spent a day at Frinton. Popped into the cafe for a sandwich lunch, ordered a sausage sandwich for me tuna sandwich for himself. Placed order and asked where the loo was, waitress just kept shaking her head at me, so asked again if there was a customer toilet, "not in here" she rudely replied. I then had to go out to find the public loo. By the time I got back the sausage was cold and the bread curled over at the edges. Sausage was cheap and tasteless. Himself said the tuna was mixed together with very cheap watery mayonnaise. The staff huddled in a corner giggling, they could have utilised the time cleaning the flies away from window ledge. Not a good experience for either customer service of food quality. Will not be returning

Very nice staff, great food, great drinks, clean and interestingly decorated.. I cannot recommend the bacon donut highly enough. Bacon in a warm glazed donut is fantastic. 4 hot chocolates. 4 (very large) orange juices, 1 croissant, 2 pain au chocolat, and one bacon donut for under £30, seems pretty good to me.

The Applegarth at Parkerâs is popular with locals and visitors alike for its relaxed atmosphere and friendly waitress service. We also have a large outside seating area so that you can while away the summer hours. The Applegarth is open from 9 am Monday t
We visit the Applegarth at Parkerâs weekly for a light lunch and have done for approximately ten years. In all that time we have never found cause to complain about the service or food. We find the staff warm and welcoming and the food wholesome and tasty. There are of course times when things get busy and the service slows, but that, surely, is to be expected. My wife has insisted I add that they produce the nicest cup of tea in the area. What more of an accolade does one require? Ten out of ten for The Applegarth.

Very good air con. Much appreciated on hottest day.Coffees and teas were fine.Cake was okSandwiches were poor.Limited selection of unappealing fillings chosen from a tired paper menu.Bread was poor quality and thickly sliced. Ham was paper thin It was served with some very small bits of potato crisps and some salad bits that looked thrown together, and were coarse and inedible. Someone thought if you cut the sandwiches carelessly you can make them look classy by skewering them with a wooden stick. It doesnât work.Staff pleasant.Decor grey and gloomy.
