Find out what Cafe restaurants to try in Edinburgh. Edinburgh’s neighborhoods developed as the city did. Originally its heart lay in the alleys and cobbled streets of the Old Town, below the castle. Then, in the late-18th century, the residential focus shifted north to a huge planned Georgian New Town. That’s now become the city’s business center, while visitor attractions and nightlife have become fairly evenly shared between these two central districts. Around them, a ring of residential districts now house most of those living in central Edinburgh. Though less good for sightseeing, these neighborhoods are just as busy and typified by thriving restaurant scenes and large parks.

A bright, relaxing, licensed bistro serving great seasonal food and baking. Available for daytime and weekend evening casual dining.
Perfectly cooked coley accompanied by ratatouille and spiced chick pea croquettes. Apple tart and lemon desserts very enjoyable. Two courses under £14. The standard of cooking is very high. Service friendly and prompt. What's not too like?

TA recommended so I came for breakfast. Choice of Scottish/ British/ L'Etoile breakfast. Went for the L'Etoile. Bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, beans, tomatoes and toast. Had a cappuccino and orange juiceThere was no choice other than scrambled eggs. Toast was brown bread -not offered a choice.Nice breakfast, reasonably priced but not particularly special

A club sandwich or BLT is a popular choice and is often accompanied by a side of fries and onion rings. Cakes and tray bakes are all home-made in house.
This place is a total Gem. After a shocking B&B stay which resulted with a lack of Breakfast we decided to explore and just happened upon Cafe Marmalade. The Owen was very welcoming, the coffee is great and you must try the Scottish Breakfast!!!!

Big breakfasts, tasty lunch menu, homemade soups, freshly baked cakes & good coffee. On top of that original PIEROGI dumplings handmade in our kitchen.
I've been living in Edinburgh for 6 months now and I can assure that this cute spot serve the best quality-price breakfast in Edinburgh! I went in with my parents after checking in Tripadvisor for the best breakfast in Edin (my parents came to visit me for one week and I wanted them to have a very good breakfast) and the place met completely the expectations. The waitress greeted us with a big smile and accompanied us to a cute quiet spot. The café was tastefully decorated considering the space available, we all ordered a full breakfast, veggie and not veggie, and the quality matches the price with no doubts. The handmade orange juice and the coffee were fantastic as well!I will get back with my gf to try the raclette for sure!

Lunch with friends; great food and fantastic value. Obviously very popular with locals, who popped in for take- aways, as well as meals.Basic decor / seating: a great place for a nice lunch but not the place for a fancy meal.Seating rather uncomfortable for anybody with mobility / disabilty issues, but staff very friendly and accomodating.Excellent for veggies; not so good for meat eaters! Highly recommended. Lovely place.

My mom and I stopped into this Cafe on a whim during our most recent trip to Edinburgh and weâre so glad we did! Such a cute little cafe and a great breakfast. The people running the cafe were so lovely and even brought us traditional Scottish dishes to try. Great place to grab a breakfast before exploring Edinburgh.

Walked to Tani Modi after reading the great reviews on here. We were not disappointed, the service was excellent and the breakfast was so fresh and tasty. Reasonable prices too. The barista is excellent and makes a great coffee. Had the brownies to finish and they were delicious. I would highly recommend.

I went there today for the first time because I wanted to experience the porridges and black pudding. I didn't regret my choice for the whole experience! The ladies working there were extremely nice, concerned about my opinion on the food and the whole establishment had a great vibe, welcoming and warming environment no doubt! Will definitely return one day!
