once a famous theatre we specialise in homecooked food with yummy homemade sponges to die for.We welcome all humans aswell as doggies. We are right in the heart of Dorchester opposite the County Museum.
This interesting cafe with a great history behind the name, is friendly, has good service and a great choice of cakes and desserts. The breakfast sandwiches didnât disappoint either, plus we were allowed to make slight changes to the menu without seeing a hefty add-on for doing so. Iâd recommend it for sure.

Came upon this little cafe on a first time visit to Dorchester. We hadn't seen much sun during our week's visit to Dorset but it came out the day we visited and sitting outside The Loft for a coffee was very pleasant indeed. One viewing of the culinary delights on offer was enough to bring us back again for lunch. The food ranged from imaginative twists on eastern cuisine to the outstanding traditional cream tea - one of the best I have ever tasted with to die for scones and superb conserve. Well worth searching out.

Outstanding young adults run this training cafe. They are a credit to themselves, their parents/families and their mentors. My wife and I were so impressed with their professionalism and customer care.Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch or tea.Good simple food. Particularly tasty, excellent lasagna. A wonderfully calm atmosphere and a great place to meet friends.

We love this cafe which is very unusually decorated and full of retro chic. The food is good and well priced. Recently there have been a few visitors who have had a mediocre experience. We are hopeful this is just set of unusual experiences. One of the issues is that some of the friends of the staff plonk themselves by the bar and look as if they havenât slept recently. However, this is overall a place we would recommend as it is so unusual and well decorated.

Came here with my daughter for a light lunch as visiting Dorchester for the day. This cafe is situated in an old building and has been sympathetically furnished to suit its surroundings with old fashioned chintzy furniture and decorations. Due to the age of the building, they have gone for a "spooky" theme with tarot readings advertised, witch signs and a horror house style fireplace. It's not really to my taste but could see that this is their USP! On the day we visited, they did not have a chef so no hot food was available. That was ok as we chose to have a scone and a toasted teacake with cups of tea. The scone was warm on arrival and, though possibly heated in a microwave rather than freshly baked, pleasant. Toasted teacake was very nice. Tea was good and we liked the old fashioned tea sets used. Overall we had a nice experience here.

Found this cafe after wandering round Dorchester, actually came in the entrance by Waitrose. Sat outside in the courtyard in a sunny spot. Staff were attentive and friendly. We both ordered a sandwich and were extremely impressed with them. Lovely thick soft bread and almost over filled. One of the best we've had for a long time. Looking forward to visiting again!

Came for lunch while visiting Dorchester. We were just passing. Very pleasant surprise. Its obviously popular with locals. Service was prompt and efficient. As it was our first time we didn't attempt anything other than basic luncheon fare but what came was really good. Coffee was good as well - not always available even in more expensive places.dear Retiredtraveller,Thank you for your recent visit whilst passing through Dorchester, I'm so pleased to see you had efficient, prompt service and your lunch and coffees were really good! I hope you'll stop by if in town again to sample some dishes from our longer lunch menu too and thanks for your review!

Breakfasts, lunches & afternoon teas in classic comfortable tearoom setting. Daily specials. Fabulous free wifi. Dog Friendly. Event catering
Dropped in for an afternoon cup of tea and coffee purely on impulse as we walked past and it was good value from the prices we could see. Service was instantaneous with the waitress asking us immediately what we were after so that we had the right menus. The prices were very reasonable and we were able to get nearly two cups of tea out of the pot! I fancied something a little sweeter but unfortunately the prices, for what I would have got, were a little on the steep side for us so I didnât partake.
