We've been patronising Golden Child ever since it opened and have enjoyed it immensely until today.Arrived at 10.30 approx.....Very quiet. Sat outside, no other patrons there. Waited, waited, no sign of service. I went inside and took a bottle of water and two glasses and although staff saw me, no one batted an eyelid. After about 10 minutes a young lady appeared and enquired whether we wanted coffee. No, we replied, we wanted breakfast. We eventually got our breakfast, but what a disappointment ! The poached eggs were like hard boiled ! However, there was a goodly amount of smoked salmon, but Golden Child once was famous for its poached eggs; one of the reasons we keep going back. May be there has been a change of chef , who knows. Fortunately, the first young lady with the unpleasant manner didn't come near us again being replaced by a charming young lady. We'll probably go back again to see if this was a once off , but I do hope it goes back to its once high standard.

Had lunch here today with family. Cosy place with friendly and helpful service. Interesting menu which caters well for gluten intolerance. We choose burgers which were well prepared, tasty and filling. Excellent coffee. Can buy various ingredients and take away cakes. One hour parking out the front. Plan to return.

It is a rare thing to find a cafe/restaurant willing to do half serves but this is my second time of being accommodated. I love that I donât have to waste food I know I am unable to eat and enjoyed my toast by a beautiful sunny window overlooking the outdoor garden. The chef made a point of visiting me to tell me that in this day and age he believed it imperative to accommodate customers needs. A huge thankyou for this and for supporting the non-wastage of food in a time when so many have little or nothing to eat.

Contrary to what I read about the new management, it is still very good. I had my usual cappuccino and my croissant and I liked it.

A welcoming place. There are tables outside and a range of seating inside. Plenty of newspapers available. There is a good range of dishes available throughout the day, you're sure to find something you like. The coffee is excellent and my wife loves the Chai tea, leaves not powder of course. Staff are friendly and efficient, it can get busy but you'll always get looked after.

Modern Australian and Asian cafe ,bar and restaurant.
What a delightful cafe! The coffee is delicious, the staff were so kind and friendly (especially with an unexpected visit from my toddler) and went out of their way with requests. We had The French which was a master piece of flavours and a really yummy twist on classic French toast. My friend had the Sam I Am and really enjoyed how fresh the salmon was and how flavoursome it was. Recommend this cafe and the staff highly!

This is an excellent but very busy modern cafe that has a old fashioned bakery feel. The food choices are excellent with a hearty and rustic flavor - I had a soup and it was tasty and healthy option as even the burgers seem to be!The service can be a bit patchy at times but it is a busy and clearly popular lock meeting place - both for residents and workers from the area.

We decided to try this coffee shop near our daughters school as it does always look busy. Maybe we hit a bad day but they got our order all wrong - how do you muck up two coffees? We didn't know who's was who's and as they didn't write it on the cups they didn't know either. We like our coffee extra hot and they were luke warm. So annoyed as we waited a while and we ended up throwing them in a bit. Waste of money.Hi Vanessa, we really appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review, but are so sorry to hear about your experience with us. We passed along your feedback to management and after some discussion, we don't seem to recall any major delays over the past few days so we'd really like to know more about your visit so that we can look into this further, as service is our top priority. Would you mind letting us know the approx. time & date you visited? It will really help us understand more about what happened here. Thank you Vanessa!

Ok so, I use ONLY these beans in my machine at home as thereâs no denying they are THE best beans for making a perfect at-home coffee. However one day I decided to actually TRY a coffee at AXIL. I was so disappointed; it was terribly weak and barely warm. I drank it between the counter and their front door. Hhhhmm, I thought for a café that prides themself on the best beans in Australia (?) the coffee would be great. Terribly disappointed.

There is a reason Shanklin are the top rated cafe in their area. Everything about the menu is quality. I enjoyed a milkshake and a burger and they were both fantastic. Great vibe, lovely staff and a perfect meal. Add to your list for sure!
