We had sandiches with salad & chips. Well presented & very tasty. Good service although very busy. Pleasant staff who only wanted to please! Sat in the outside dining area & watched the world go by. Some customers smoked & I found that disrespectful to diners. However that did not spoil a good experience. Will return again when in town.

Feeling hungry we decided to have a meal at this restaurant. Good choice of meals on offer, snacky type meals through to full monty dinner. The staff were all very attentive, the latte coffees nice and hot and the food was delicious. Would definitely go back when next in the area.

Visited on the spur of the moment and found a simple menu, but air-conditioned surroundings and friendly staff. The menu is a basic seaside menu, but it is well cooked and at a fair price (although I found the soft drinks a little pricey). Food was served up quickly and I enjoyed my burger/salad/chips. Lots of tables and nice staff. Worth a visit!
Where to eat Asian food in Burgh le Marsh: The Best Restaurants and Bars
In need of lunch after visiting Gunby Hall (wish the hall had offered sandwiches; it only served drinks, cakes and snacks) we found this cafe on the internet. We should have realised from the generally run-down state of the garden centre which we had to go through to get to the that the best course of action would have been to find somewhere else to eat but we were driven on by hunger and a relatively lengthy journey home. Still (unwisely) not deterred by the stickiness of the laminated menu, (hindsight is a wonderful thing) We ordered sandwiches, snacks and tea. It wasn't until we were waiting for our order to arrive that I had time to take in the well-populated fly strip hanging from the window, the ant-exterminating station by the door, a few brave ants crawling across the windowsill and the brown-edged, sticky plastic tablecloths. There was a deeply greasy patina on the wooden floor. The food looked reasonable, but there was a hair in my teacup which looked suspiciously doggy. I asked for a clean cup and was given one by a member of staff, but it was seemingly not done with a good grace. The food arrived and looked ok, but I couldn't get it out of my mind that if the kitchen looked anything as dirty as the cafe, it couldn't have been hygienically prepared. My sandwich had a generous layer of white margarine slathered across it - melted plastic must have a similar taste to this, I imagine. I managed a few bites but really couldn't face any more and as the rest of the group felt the same, we left swiftly, glad to be away from the smell of frying and the tumbleweed atmosphere. Inexpensive it was, but there's more to good food than cheapness.

This was our first trip to Heron Mead and The Hide restaurant, and we were both extremely impressed. The fantastic welcome by the owner and staff was so welcoming. What planned as a quick snack turned out to be all afternoon, starting with a coffee, then a succulent Ribeye steak each, cooked by Shelly to perfection. There is a big plate full, 10oz steak chunky chips and healthy salad, devine. We were rather full, and had our second coffee on the terrace, wow what a view over two lakes. We sat chatting to two customers that lived in Skegness and three hours later, we had exchanges details as they were born in our hometown of Bolsover. Overall outstanding, we will definitely be returning.
